Brotherhood is a Verb

On October 8th, Firefighter Brokes lost his life while searching a structure fire for victims. He made the ultimate sacrifice honoring the oath he took: putting himself in harm’s way to save another.

Please keep Durham Fire Department, the Brokes family, and everyone affected by this tremendous loss in your thoughts. The first responder community is a small one, and when one of our own is lost, we all feel it.

To our brothers and sisters in Durham, we stand with you and grieve alongside you.

Rest easy, Firefighter Brokes. We’ll take it from here.

The North Carolina SBI is assisting the Durham fire department with a fire. One firefighter has died in the line of duty and two other others have been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. There are multiple agencies on scene actively working the fire. Please avoid the area of Marly Road and Highway 70.
