We would like to thank Jackson energy for accepting our application for the round up grant and awarding us. These fund will be used for some needed upgrades to our sar UTV (SAR-3) and equipment. Thank you again

Sunday morning at 00:23 hours, OCSAR received a call for a UTV accident with entrapment in the Wild Dog area. OCSAR responded with SAR-1, SAR-3 and 4 personnel. Contact was made with reporting party when we obtained better cell signal and they advised everything was ok and they were returning home. Thankfully this call had a much better than expected outcome. Plus we got to get some UTV time in ourself. Lol. We would like to thank Booneville - Owsley Vol. Fire Department, Owsley Co. Sheriffs Office , Ksp and Allen’s ambulance service for their assistance and joint coordination . We hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and stay safe !!

@1600 hrs Owsley Co SAR was notified of a missing person in the Hwy 11 south area, near Griffith cemetery rd. OCSAR personnel along with Owsley Co. Emergency management, Owsley Co. Sheriffs office and Kentucky Emergency Managment reported to the area to conduct investigation and begin an initial search of the area. After several hours of searching and tracking the decision was made to call off the search for the evening and resume operations in the morning due to limited visibility and rough terrain. Calls were made for human tracking sent dogs to assist in the search the following morning as well as 2 thermal imagining drones. After the plan was made a call was received that the subject had been found. Owsley Co. Sheriffs office and Owsley Co. SAR drove to the persons location to confirm. The person not being familiar with the area had simply just gotten lost. With minor scrapes and bruises this was a successful outcome. With the rough terrain in the area, we were expecting a totally different outcome. Thankfully the person checked out in good health and was happy to see civilization again. We want to thank everyone that assisted and the other agency’s for being enrout to assist.
