We’re excited to welcome Horace Henry as our speaker for May’s CreativeMornings Palm Beach, exploring this month’s global theme: CREATE.

Horace is a hospitality entrepreneur and cultural curator, and the founder of Off The Clock—a South Florida listening bar and dining experience that blends elevated cuisine with music, art, and community. With a background rooted in hands on experience across every level of hospitality, Horace has developed a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of guest experience.

His work is driven by a commitment to authenticity, drawing from Caribbean heritage, and a passion for cultural connection. Through Off The Clock, he has created more than a venue; he has built a space where hospitality, creativity, and community intersect.

Put oxygen on those embers. Become the flame. 🔥

From a holler in West Virginia to the halls of the US Capitol, spoken word artist and community builder Desiree Karnis Reavis showed us how poetry, perseverance, and putting oxygen on your embers can turn survival into a life of service.

Desiree's talk opened with a raw, breathtaking spoken word poem before pulling back the curtain on the life that wrote it.

Raised in a small West Virginia town, she lost her father at four, watched her mother go to prison, survived assault, domestic violence, cancer, and a near-fatal car accident.

Through it all, one thing kept her going: writing. Poetry became her exorcism, her therapy, and eventually her calling.

She founded The Stage, a spoken word open mic that ran for nearly 20 years and grew into a community lifeline.

That community spirit led her to the National Poetry Month Youth Summit, Women United at United Way of Palm Beach County, advocacy work at the Florida State Capitol and the US Capitol, a TEDx talk, and her role as the inaugural Ambassador of Spoken Word for the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County.

With her vulnerable and passionate talk, Desiree reminded us that no matter where you come from or how little you think you have, your energy, your time, and your fire are enough.

Join us TOMORROW at the beautiful Cultural Council for Palm Beach County for a morning of inspiration and connection.

The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County is the only organization solely dedicated to supporting arts and culture in The Palm Beaches, Florida’s Cultural Capital.

The mission of the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County is to nurture, promote, and support a healthy, diverse, and inclusive cultural sector.

They serve as cultural architects, championing and growing cultural organizations and creative professionals so that arts and culture are a part of everyday life, for everyone.

They envision Palm Beach County as a thriving, vibrant, financially stable, and inclusive arts and cultural community that contributes to an exceptional quality of life.

These are questions April’s global theme of EMBER prompts us to consider. It was chosen by our Poulsbo chapter in Washington and illustrated by Sarah Gordon ().

In the Poulsbo chapter's own words, "an ember is so much more than a piece of coal. It's a steady glow representing the warmth of the community, the slow burn of ideas taking root, and the power of persistence."
