Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, Lowcountry Palliative Care, Rays of Hope Behavioral Health & The Maggie Clark Volunteer Programs are now services of MiraSol Health. HCL is the largest non-profit hospice organization in Beaufort and Jasper County's, South Carolina. We are the only hospice organization in our area with a Palliative Home Health Care and Kids Path License. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We never send a bill to a patient nor will we ever turn a patient away for lack of insurance.

MiraSol Health Names Patrick “Pat” McIntyre as Chief Executive Officer

We’re pleased to announce that Patrick “Pat” McIntyre has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of MiraSol Health!

Pat brings more than 35 years of healthcare leadership experience, including senior leadership roles with UnitedHealth Group and Elevance Health, and previously served as CEO of OneOme, a precision medicine company founded by Mayo Clinic.

Over the past 18 months, Pat has become an integral part of MiraSol Health, serving on our Board of Directors and, most recently, as Interim Chief Operating Officer. His experience, commitment to service, and understanding of our organization position him to lead MiraSol into its next chapter.

As we look ahead, one thing remains at the center of everything we do: our commitment to providing compassionate care and guidance to patients and families throughout the Lowcountry. Our dedicated care teams remain at the heart of that mission, and we look forward to building on our strong foundation to serve even more people in our communities.

Our Chief Clinical Officer, Gina Harris, recently joined Boomers Today to discuss one of the most misunderstood aspects of hospice care: what it really means for patients and their families.

With more than 25 years of experience in patient care, Gina shares why hospice isn't about giving up. It's about focusing on comfort, honoring a patient's wishes, and making sure families have the support they need along the way.

In this conversation, Gina also explains the difference between hospice and palliative care, why families shouldn't wait until the very end to explore their options, and how hospice supports the whole family - not just the patient.

💜 A little laughter can go a long way.

Our second Empowering Caregivers session brought our community together for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and a fresh perspective on the challenges of caregiving.

We were grateful to welcome Dani Klein Modisett, founder of Laughter on Call, who shared “Laughing Through the Hard Stuff: The Unexpected Power of Humor in Caregiving.” Her presentation reminded us that even during difficult seasons, laughter can offer moments of relief, connection, and renewed perspective.

The Empowering Caregivers Series is about more than sharing resources. It’s about creating space for caregivers to feel seen, connect with others who understand, and know they don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this session special!

We look forward to continuing these conversations as we bring more opportunities for caregivers across our community to learn, connect, and feel supported.
