On July 12, 1874, 35 Texas Rangers followed a trail into Lost Valley. They thought the Comanche and Kiowa warriors were fleeing—but the trail had been left for them to follow.

This untold Comanche history documentary explores the Lost Valley Fight, where mounted warriors used speed, terrain, heat and access to water to turn experienced Rangers into trapped prey. Cameron Creek was only a quarter mile away, yet reaching it could cost a man his life.

Discover how Lone Wolf, Kiowa medicine man Maman-ti and their warriors drew Major John B. Jones’s Rangers away from safety. Learn about the mysterious owl medicine prophecy, the death of David Bailey, the disputed historical accounts and the tactics that made Comanche and Kiowa warfare so effective across the Southern Plains.

The documentary also examines the larger history behind the battle: Comanche horsemanship, Texas Ranger fi****ms, the Red River War, Palo Duro Canyon, Fort Marion, forced assimilation and the survival of the Comanche language through the Code Talkers of World War II.

Was Lost Valley a Comanche victory, a Texas Ranger escape—or a battle in which both sides were already being trapped by a much larger war?
