Most people know Lambeau Field as the home of the Green Bay Packers.
What many donโt realize is that the stadium we see today wasnโt built all at once.
The original stadium opened in 1957 with a capacity of just 32,500. Over the next seven decades, generations of union operating engineers, laborers, ironworkers, carpenters, electricians, and other skilled tradesmen helped expand, modernize, and maintain the stadium.
From enclosing the bowl in the 1960s to building luxury suites, the iconic Atrium, the South End Zone expansion, massive video boards, underground facilities, and the new UW Health Gate, union trades have helped shape Lambeau Field into the landmark it is today.
Nearly 70 years later, the work continues.
Lambeau Field isnโt just home to the Packers.
Itโs a testament to generations of skilled union labor.
