I like the way The Message reads this piece of scripture: Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.
8-10 Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus. “Master, leave. I’m a sinner and can’t handle this holiness. Leave me to myself.” When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon and everyone with him. It was the same with James and John, Zebedee’s sons, coworkers with Simon.
10-11 Jesus said to Simon, “There is nothing to fear. From now on you’ll be fishing for men and women.” They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them, nets and all, and followed him. I often sit and think about this piece of scripture and I like to place myself in the shoes of Peter and imagine the excitement and joy that he felt. "They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them nets and all, and followed him" I lived on the fence for many, many years, saying I believed and Jesus would pull me out of the pit each time, It was often short-lived. I would always take control of the ship being my life. I'm here to say that I sunk that ship every time when I tried to plot my own course. Jesus always brought my ship up from the bottom every time. Finally I was sick and tired of abandoning the ship and I cried out to Jesus, "I SURRENDER" "I GIVE IT ALL TO YOU!" JESUS is my captain and He steers the ship. "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever."
Too Broken to Be Found family, God Bless You All, and remember "Surrender" and let Jesus be your Shepherd.
