✨ Staff Spotlight: Vikki, Director of Nursing ✨

This month, we’re proud to highlight our Director of Nursing, Vikki, whose dedication to helping others heal has guided her throughout a remarkable nursing career spanning more than two decades.

After beginning her career at Connecticut Children’s Hospital, Vikki joined Wellspring in 2006 as a psychiatric nurse. She later worked in pediatric clinical research and played a role in COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials before returning to Wellspring in 2022 as Director of Nursing.

Today, she leads Wellspring’s nursing team and helps ensure that our residents have access to on-site nursing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Most recently, she earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate, an advanced credential that expands her expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditions.

When asked what continues to inspire her, Vikki shared:
“The opportunity to help others heal and live their best, healthy lives is my motivation every day I come to work.”

A few fun facts:

💙 One of her first jobs was as a real estate agent
🎧 She enjoys listening to The Mel Robbins Podcast
🚶‍♀️ She recharges through long walks, yoga, and time outdoors.

Her guiding philosophy:
“Always have empathy for others without judgment or bias. Be kind. You have no idea what it’s like to be in their shoes.”

Thank you, Vikki, for your leadership, compassion, and commitment to our students, families, and Wellspring community.

Celebrating Growth, Confidence, and New Opportunities 💙

Our first-ever Pre-Vocational Celebration was a wonderful success!

Throughout the year, four students participated in the program, each gaining valuable real-world experience while working toward personal, academic, and career-related goals. To mark the occasion, they thoughtfully presented reflections on their journeys to an audience of family members, supervisors, and staff.

This year’s placements included:
✨ Landmark Theatre (Thomaston)
✨ New Britain Museum of American Art
✨ Bethlehem Food Bank
✨ Woodbury Public Library
✨ Sharon Audubon Society

Each student’s experience was unique. Some focused on career exploration, networking, and resume building, while others worked through challenges related to self-advocacy, sensory needs, interview skills, and professional presentation. Their reflections highlighted not only what they accomplished, but how much they grew along the way.

We are incredibly proud of the insight, courage, and dedication these students demonstrated throughout the year. Watching them share their experiences and celebrate their achievements was truly inspiring.

🐑🐰 We Have Some New Friends on Campus! 🐰🐑

There’s a little extra excitement around the barn these days as we welcome some adorable new additions to our Animal Program!

First, say hello to Mattie the sheep, who has already been winning hearts around campus with her sweet personality.

We’re also thrilled to introduce Babbit and Clover, two adorable Netherland dwarf rabbit sisters. These sisters were in need of a loving home, and we knew our campus would be the perfect place for them to receive plenty of care, attention, and affection.

Our Animal Program continues to provide meaningful opportunities for connection, responsibility, and joy—and these new residents are already making themselves right at home.

Be sure to stop by the barn when you have a chance to meet Mattie, Babbit, and Clover. We can’t wait for you to get to know them!

🧶 Crochet Clinic at Wellspring

Our biweekly Crochet Clinic offers more than just the opportunity to learn a new skill—it provides a space for creativity, connection, and wellness.

Led by our nursing team, residents explore fiber arts while engaging in discussions about topics such as stress management, anxiety, self-care, mindfulness, and overall health and wellness. Research has shown that activities like crocheting can help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support emotional well-being.

Each session is shaped by the interests and questions of the group, creating a meaningful experience that combines hands-on learning with personal growth.

At Wellspring, healing happens in many forms—and sometimes it begins with a hook, some yarn, and a supportive community. 💙

Wellspring was thrilled to attend the 2026 IECA Conference in Baltimore, where CEO Pete Mumma and Director of Business Development Katie Arsenault connected with educational consultants and professionals from across the country.

The Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) is a professional association that supports independent educational consultants and promotes ethical, informed guidance for students and families navigating educational decisions. The conference provided a wonderful opportunity to build new relationships, strengthen existing partnerships, and share more about Wellspring’s integrated therapeutic and educational approach for adolescents and young adults.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect with us during the conference — we truly enjoyed being part of such a meaningful event.

We had a beautiful Admin Day on campus today filled with connection, teamwork, and a little time to recharge together.

The day started with gardening and planting flowers around campus, followed by lunch together and team-building games throughout the afternoon.

It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of community, collaboration, and taking time to grow together—both personally and professionally.

Today we gathered together for one of our favorite traditions on campus—our annual bonfire, followed by s’mores later in the day.

Symbolically, fire represents release, transformation, renewal, and letting go. As a part of the experience, students and residents were invited to reflect on something they may have been holding onto and letting it go by tossing it into the fire.

Moments like these remind us of the importance of connection, reflection, healing, and creating space for new beginnings. ✨🔥

What a beautiful day on campus as we set up for our annual plant sale this morning ! 🌿☀️

Some of the plants were grown by our students and residents in the greenhouse, making today especially meaningful.
