🎄❤️ 300 CHILDREN. ONE AMAZING COMMUNITY. A WHOLE LOT OF CHRISTMAS MAGIC! ❤️🎄

Halloween isn’t even over, but Garrett’s Place is already dreaming of Christmas! 🎅

We are planning a Christmas party for approximately 300 precious children, and we need our village!

Our community NEVER fails these children, and I believe this year will be no different! ❤️

While we do have financial needs, so
much of what we need could come from simple group collections! Churches, businesses, neighborhoods, coworkers, schools, and families can all make a BIG difference with just a LITTLE effort!

🎁 Here’s what we’re collecting:

🧸 Stuffed animals (with tags or very much like new)

🍬 Leftover Halloween candy

🫧 Bubbles

🎉 Small toys and carnival prizes

⭐ Stickers and temporary tattoos

🦆 RUBBER DUCKS! Lots of rubber ducks!

We will also be working with businesses hosting toy drives to make some of those locations drop-off points for party favors!

❤️ Here’s my heart in all of this…

I don’t want to rush through this Christmas season. I want to soak it all in. Every smile. Every giggle. Every little face lighting up with excitement.

I want this party to be more than just a day of fun. I want these children to feel celebrated, loved, and reminded that there is an entire community cheering them on.

These children deserve the magic of Christmas, and together we can give them a day filled with joy, love, and beautiful memories!

Sometimes God answers prayers in the sweetest, most unexpected ways. ❤️🐾

When you hear about a little girl in foster care who wants nothing more than a puppy of her very own, it touches your heart. But when you learn that, because of the trauma she has endured, she finds it difficult to communicate with adults and feels safest talking to children and animals, it touches your soul.

Sometimes the deepest hurts are the ones that words simply cannot express. And sometimes healing comes with four little paws, a wagging tail, and a love that asks for nothing in return.

For a while now, I have been praying about finding the right home for one of my puppies. I didn’t want just any home. I wanted his home. He is a great dog we just knew he needed his very own person.

And then I found out about this precious little girl needing her dog.

In that moment, I just knew.

Benji had found his girl. ❤️

I believe with all my heart that God was already working on both ends of this little story. While I was praying about where Benji belonged, there was a little girl longing for a puppy to call her very own.

A little girl who has experienced things no child should ever have to experience. A little girl who may struggle to find her words but has so much love in her heart to give.

And now she has Benji.

Someone to whisper her secrets to. Someone to hold when the world feels scary. Someone who won’t ask questions about her past, who won’t judge her silence, and who will love her just as she is.

I don’t know all that God has planned for these two, but I pray that every little paw print Benji leaves on her heart helps replace a painful memory with a beautiful one.

Sometimes we think we’re finding a home for a puppy, when all along God is sending a little girl a best friend.

Benji, sweet boy, I believe you were hers before either of us even knew it.

And isn’t it just like God to bring two little hearts together at exactly the right time? ❤️🐾

Every child deserves to feel chosen, wanted, and unconditionally loved.

Bengi got 3 more little ones to shower him with love!! He’s going to be in doggy heaven with all the babies to love!!

🚨 URGENT NEED — FOUR CHILDREN ENTERING FOSTER CARE TODAY! 🚨

We have four children coming into care in Walker County, and they need something so simple, yet so important — a bed of their own to sleep in. ❤️

We are seeking 4 twin-size beds and 4 twin-size mattresses.

Nothing fancy, no special preferences — just a safe, comfortable place for these children to lay their heads.

Transportation is not an issue! We can arrange to get the beds to Walker County.

If you have a twin bed or mattress you would like to donate, or feel led to purchase one, please reach out to Garrett’s Place as soon as possible.

Let’s come together and get these four precious children a bed to sleep in.

There’s a group of kids in foster care that almost no one talks about.

The biological children in foster homes.

The kids who didn’t choose foster care…
but opened their lives to it anyway.

They share their parents.
Their space.
Their routines.

Sometimes their toys.
Sometimes their bedrooms.
Sometimes the attention they used to have all to themselves.

They watch children come into their home carrying pain and trauma.
They watch their parents pour everything they have into helping those kids heal.

And they do something incredibly quiet and incredibly brave.

They make room.

They learn to be patient when things feel unfair.
They learn that some kids need more attention for a while.
They learn compassion in ways most children their age never have to.

But they also carry things people don’t always see.

Secondhand trauma.
Compassion fatigue.
The emotional weight of loving children who may leave.

They say goodbye to friends they made at their own dinner table.

And often… no one talks about their sacrifice.

But I see them.

The kids who help pack bags.
The kids who sit beside a foster sibling when they’re hurting.
The kids who open their hearts again and again, even knowing goodbye might come.

They are learning something powerful.

How to love people who are hurting.
How to share when it costs something.
How to show compassion in real life, not just in words.

And those are the kinds of lessons that shape the kind of adults they will become.

So tonight I just want to say this.

To the biological kids in foster homes…

You matter too.

Your kindness matters.
Your patience matters.
Your sacrifices do not go unseen.

You are part of the healing happening in those homes.

And that kind of love is a really beautiful thing.

Nearly 1 in 3 kids in foster care is between 11 and 16.

Most people picture a toddler when they picture fostering. That's honest, and it's also not where the shortage is.

The shortage is worst for teenagers, sibling groups, and kids with complex needs.

A 14-year-old doesn't need a nursery. He needs a ride to practice, a curfew, somebody who notices when he's quiet, and somebody to text "I'm here" when he gets home.

If you'd be good with a teenager, that's the gap.

Today, we had the honor of loving on a precious little boy and showering him and the family who said YES with the things he will need for this new chapter of his journey. ❤️

Through The Mission House in Oak Grove, we were able to surround this little one and his family with love, support, and the reassurance that they are not walking this journey alone.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers who work so hard to keep The Mission House ready for moments just like this. And to our incredible community who continues to give so generously—you are the hands and feet of Jesus.

Because of you, when a family says YES, we get to say, “We’ve got you!”

What a blessing it is to be a small part of something so much bigger than ourselves. ❤️
