We are a registered Trust in Kenya that provides a safe and loving home as well as education for girls under 10 yrs of age all the way down to newborns who have experience trauma in their lives - including FGM and childhood marriage, r**e, defilement, abandonment and abuse. The Trust also has a dental clinic that provides free care to those in need.

Our journey to be self-sustaining -

We wanted to introduce you to "tumaini" - natural Lip Balms, Body Creams & Butters and Soap - made right here in Kenya at the Olmalaika Trust - by us!!

We will be stopping by this weekend in Nairobi at The Getaway Tourism Fair, currently taking place at the Sarit Expo Centre in Westlands to share samples of our products with safari companies, lodges/camps/resorts in hopes they might want to purchase from us to add to their boutique shops or use "tumaini" products in their gift bags. If you have a booth and will be there let me know so I can for sure stop by. ALL profits go directly to the Trust.

PLUS - we will be offering the option of allowing safari compainies to offer their guests an opportunity to stop by and make their own products while in the Maasai Mara -

"Healing Hearts" Program -

We get requests every couple of days to take in young ladies that are beaten, bruised, heart broken and often pregnant. They have nowhere to turn - in many cases there are no families to go home to - or they have been rejected

Today was no different than any other day - the request came in, calls were made, we listened - we heard and we said come, we will take you in - you can begin your journey of healing here at the Olmalaika Trust.

She will arrive tomorrow and join three more that are now here with us. I dont know where the funds will come from - but I have faith!

Its not the end - its the beginning for her, of moving from being a victim to being a survivor -

We have become part of the National Shelter Network in Kenya and are now a safe place for GBV girls and women. "Healing Hearts" is a very special program here at the Olmalaika Trust for girls and young ladies who have endured trauma - including sexual abuse (r**e, defiled, fgm, childhood marriage) and assault.

A structured 4–6 month healing program that goes beyond basic shelter and provides medical, dental, psychological, spiritual and social support that has the ability to make a real difference in the lives of young girls and women.

It's an opportunity to begin the journey of healing, to realize I am worthy & valuable and find the inner strength to become survivors instead of victims.

There are numerous expenses that come with each young person accepted into the Olmalaika Home and we need donors/sponsors to help provide for those costs which include: clothes, meals, doctors/medical bills, medicines/vitamins, therapy, basic toiletries and more

Your donation is life changing - not only for the young ladies, but for their unborn baby as well

We have several really BIG needs right now at the Trust that we need help with -

1. 🩷
One of our solar systems has come to the end of its life - because of its "age" we cannot simply replace parts, we have to do a complete overhaul and get an entirely new system. Until we are able to replace the old system the electricity only is assured while the sun is shining. The cost: $3900 (USD) (*thanks to a donation last night)

We simply need donors who are willing to give to our general fund that helps provide for salaries for our amazing staff, for supplies, food and more each month. Without staff there simply would not be a home for those in need. Our staff are key to everything that is provided via the Olmalaika Trust

We are super excited to introduce you to Emily Gitau who will be spending the school holiday with us (Oct, November, Dec)

She will be tutoring and providing all sorts of learning activities for those at the Olmalaika Home as well as possibly some children from the community.

Emily is a compassionate and versatile Educator, Child Care Specialist, Author and Counselor with over 20 years of experience supporting children, families, and educators across multicultural settings. Skilled at creating safe, inclusive, and creative learning environments that nurture both academic success and emotional wellbeing.

She holds a Master of Arts in Project Planning & Management, a Diploma in Guidance & Counselling, and a Bachelor of Education, complemented by international certifications in Health & Safety (Alberta), First Aid & CPR, and WHMIS. Currently completing trauma-informed care training (Brain Story Certification).

Bringing a unique blend of teaching expertise, child wellness, and creative methods including art therapy, storytelling, drama, and values-based play.
