🍻🚒 A Fun Day of Brewing! 🚒🍻

Local 5090 spent the day at Launch Pad Brewery getting a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process while helping create a special brew just for you!

From milling grains and adding oats to boiling, filtering, and adding hops, our firefighters got to experience the hard work and science behind brewing a great b**r!

We even learned that the leftover grains don’t go to waste! They’re donated to a local farm, where they’re dried and repurposed as animal feed. 🌾🐄

Our special brew is a saison featuring hops for flavor and aroma, with a cranberry compote added after fermentation for a unique finishing touch! 🍒🍺

Now comes the hard part… waiting a few weeks for it to ferment! 👀

A huge thank you to Launch Pad Brewery Bennett for welcoming our members and letting us be part of the process!

🌶️🔥 CHILI ROAST FUNDRAISER! 🔥🌶️

Join us at Launch Pad Brewery in Bennett for a chili roast hosted by Firehouse Chili’s, owned and operated by Nick McKibbin!

Nick is a Lieutenant/Paramedic with South Metro Fire Rescue and Vice President of IAFF Local 2086. He’s bringing his passion for great chili and giving back to the fire service right here to Bennett!

At approximately 6:25 p.m. Tuesday 10/13, Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident near Colfax Avenue and First Street.

Crews arrived to find two vehicles involved, with a horse trailer on its side. Thankfully, both vehicle occupants were uninjured. The horse sustained minor injuries but, due to its position inside the trailer, was unable to stand on its own.

With assistance from Strasburg Veterinary Clinic, the horse was safely sedated and removed from the trailer. Shortly afterward, it was back on its feet, walking around and eating. 🐴

We’re grateful this incident did not result in any serious injuries and appreciate everyone who worked together for a safe outcome.

Great training focusing on airway management and hands-on skills. 🚒🫁

We’re incredibly grateful for the individuals and organizations who donate sheep lungs and other training materials that allow our crews to practice with realistic anatomy. Opportunities like this give our members valuable hands-on experience, sharpen critical skills, and help us stay prepared when seconds matter.

A huge thank you to those who make this type of training possible!

🚒 Two ballot measures. Two different funding tools. One goal: keeping Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue ready to serve our growing community.

7F would create a 0.75% sales tax to support local fire protection, EMS, rescue services, staffing, equipment, and facility needs. That equals just 75¢ on every $100 in taxable purchases.

7G is different. It does not increase the mill levy rate. It allows Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue to retain property-tax revenue already approved by local voters instead of continuing to lose access to that funding under the new state revenue cap.

Together, 7F and 7G help protect the people, apparatus, stations, and emergency services our community depends on every day.

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week Fun! 🔥🚒

This week, our Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue crews had the opportunity to spend time with some of our youngest community members at Bennett Elementary for Fire Prevention Week!

From exploring the fire engine to learning about firefighter gear and fire safety, we loved seeing all the excitement, smiles, and great questions! 👩‍🚒🚒

Public education is one of our favorite ways to connect with our community. Teaching fire safety at a young age helps build awareness, confidence, and lifelong safety habits.

A big thank you to everyone who welcomed us and helped make this event possible! ❤️
