Scouts took a field trip from Camp Kerr to visit the Chickasaw Nation Historic Capitol Building and museum in Tishomingo, where they learned about the history of the Chickasaw Nation and noteworthy Tribal Members, including Astronaut John Herrington, who was himself a Scout!

When the temperatures climb at camp, Scouts head to the lake! Troop 122 spent the week working on merit badges at the Kerr Scout Ranch Aquatics Center on Lake Payne. Scouts honed their skills kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and lifesaving… and stayed cool in the process!

Troop 122 wrapped up their first day of summer camp completing activities to earn feathers, representing adventure, honor, and service. Scouts kayaked across Lake Payne, roamed over camp completing a scavenger hunt, and rappelled of the climbing tower. Everyone enjoyed an evening around the campfire making s’mores. When asked about what they are most looking forward to tomorrow, rifle shooting and archery were the most frequent responses.
