🚒 During the recent live burn training in Waco, Belton CERT volunteers had the unique opportunity to observe the training environment firsthand and gain a better understanding of the equipment and techniques firefighters use during structure fires.

Experiences like these provide valuable insight into the challenges firefighters face, the skills they develop, and the dedication required to serve and protect our community. We are grateful for opportunities to learn more about the important work our firefighters do every day.

Flashback Thursday

A few weeks ago, Belton CERT volunteers spent three days supporting the Belton Fire Department during live burn training exercises in Waco. Volunteers assisted with logistics, hydration, accountability, and other support functions, helping firefighters stay focused on training. It was a great example of the strong partnership between CERT and the Fire Department and the important role volunteers play in supporting emergency services.

Of course, every operation has its heroes. When the facility restroom ran out of toilet paper, one CERT volunteer sprang into action and successfully located a replacement roll. As someone later joked, “Even firefighters need a hero.” 🧻🚒

More than you might think!

This photo shows firefighters loading large-diameter hose after training. What looks simple is actually a team effort requiring coordination, strength, and attention to detail.

Firefighting isn’t just about responding to emergencies—it’s also about training, teamwork, and making sure equipment is ready for the next call.

Every hose loaded today helps prepare for the emergency of tomorrow. 💪🚒

… and we thank you firefighters for all you do.

It’s also a skill Belton CERT learns how to do and just another service they can provide on scene or back at the station.

Flashback Thursday 😃🚴
Another look back at last Saturday’s bike race with the Belton Lions Club!

Our volunteers had a great time supporting riders at the 30-mile rest stop. After seeing that route firsthand, we have even more respect for everyone who took on the challenge!

One highlight from the day was seeing volunteers put their firefighter rehab skills into action while caring for cyclists at the rest stop. Along with monitoring the health of the cyclists as they stopped, volunteers provided wet cooling towels to help them cool off — something many cyclists said they had never experienced before and truly appreciated.

Thanks to all the cyclists and volunteers who made it such a fun day serving the community.

Another great day serving our community! 🚴‍♂️💧

Belton CERT is proud to be supporting the annual Lions Club Bike Race the “STAMPEDE on the CHISHOLM TRAIL”, by operating a rider rest stop along the route. From hydration and snacks to encouragement and smiles, our volunteers are helping keep participants fueled and moving safely throughout the event.

Such a great day to be outside and doing a bike ride. 🚴‍♂️🚴🚴‍♀️
