Belleville Scouts delivered notices about the Scouting for Food collection on Saturday, March 14. Please have your bags of food ready for pickup by 9:00 A.M. All items will be donated to the Belleville Food Pantry. The food we most need includes: canned peas, corn and potatoes, mandarin oranges and pineapple, Hamburger Helper mixes, canned meats like pork and beans or chili, canned chicken, nuts, granola bars, crackers and personal care items like toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant. Items we currently have an abundance of include beans and soups.

Thanks to the Belleville Scouts for coordinating this collection and to the Belleville Community for their support of the Belleville Food Pantry.

Thank you to Aaron at the Belleville Piggly Wiggly. He donated almost 2,000 pounds of reclaimed food to the Belleville Food Pantry. AND a huge thank you to Mr. Gentilli and his students and helpers who picked up all that food at the grocery store, weighed everything and brought it to the Pantry.

There are two fundraisers this month benefitting the Food Pantry. There will be a Brass Ensemble Holiday Performance the the First United Church of Christ, 130 E Church St, on Sunday, December 14 starting at 2:00. Please bring non-perishable items to donate. Also the Piggly Wiggly in Belleville is designating the "round-up" donations in December for the Belleville Food Pantry. Please tell the cashier you would like to "round-up" for the Belleville Food Pantry. Thank you for your support this month.

Thank you to the Belleville Area community members, teachers, staff and students for conducting a very successful Turkey Drop. We received enough turkeys to distribute our Thanksgiving bags plus we have enough left to add to our Christmas distribution. Thank you for supporting the Belleville Food Pantry.

The Belleville High School Honor Society will be trick or treating for the Belleville Food Pantry on Halloween. Last year this was a very successful food drive that helped keep our shelves well-stocked. Items were are in need of are canned fruits and peas and corn, canned chili and other meat proteins, tuna, hearty soups, pasta and cereal. Thank you in advance for helping these students support the food pantry.

We are now taking orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas meal bags. The Thanksgiving bags will include a frozen turkey and all the fixings for a great Thanksgiving meal (stuffing, pumpkin pie, jello, green bean casserole makings, potatoes, cranberries and dinner rolls). The Christmas bags will include a ham and ingredients to make a happy holiday meal.

Call the Belleville Village Hall or stop in at the Belleville Food Pantry to order your holiday meal bags. Bag pickup will be at the Food Pantry, Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoon, during the last full week before the holiday.
