Character 101

Character 101 The purpose of Character 101 is to provide tools to expand the opportunities for children.

The focus includes Special Needs Children and Orphans in Arusha, Tanzania. CHARACTER 101 provides educational scholarships for Orphans and U***d mothers with our partner "Shalom Centre Orphanage". CHARACTER 101 also provides for the annual food budget, bedding, Christmas project, bicycles, games and educational videos. Our second partner in Arusha is "Safe Home for Children with Disabilities". CHA

RACTER 101 provides operating funds, rent, wheelchairs and therapeutical equipment. Through these efforts instilling the Importance of Character - Citizenship, Caring, Fairness, Trustworthiness, Respect and Responsibility.

There was a time children with special needs were ignored or worse. But that has changed! Families are being introduced to physical therapy and shown how their children can benefit. Some of these children were never taken outside for fear of ridicule. Safe Home for Children with Disabilities is our partner in Arusha, Tanzania. It is so heart warming to see the progress. We are in Arusha Tanzania sharing with the children of “Safe Home for Children with Disabilities”. We have brought wheelchairs, teaching supplies, winter hats, blankets and diapers. They are often misunderstood by their families but Yuster Njau is working hard to bring awareness of their value.

Networking is something that can benefit both parties. Well, young men from Shalom Centre were introduced to Sumwood Workshop. Here they will be given the opportunity to learn about making furniture. This workshop does amazing work. The owner, Sunday, has wanted to teach young people what he has learned. This is a great opportunity for Shalom and those with an interest in woodworking.

Our Story

Character 101 was begun with the purpose of teaching Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship to the children of Arusha, Tanzania. Combating the corruption in so many countries and social settings brought about Character 101 as a means of teaching positive character traits to young people, for the purpose of combating the influences of corruption. Character 101 uses character studies and sports as tools to teach young people what it means to be a person of character. Character 101, a 501(c)(3) is funded by private donations.
