You folks are a blessing!! Good to see a large ERT turnout helping these communities recover.

In the wake of Hurricane Isaias, we are witnessing the strength of our United Methodist connection!

Rev. Chris Ackerman, AWF Disaster Response Coordinator, and his team immediately deployed to some of the hardest-hit areas to assess damage, provide assistance and coordinate recovery efforts.

Volunteers from throughout our United Methodist connection have answered the call, offering their time, resources and helping hands to churches and communities in need.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of prayers, generosity and support. While the road to recovery will take time, we are reminded that we are stronger together.

Thank you to everyone who is helping us put faith into action and share the love of Christ with our neighbors!

Blessed by the UMT SAW Team and Beckley Community UMC — The UM Temple, Beckley, SAW Team and men from Beckley Community UMC spent a recent Saturday morning at the Depot cutting down wooden pallets. Why? The narrower pallets allow us to load-out stretch-wrapped cleaning kits (buckets) so that they efficiently fit into trailers for transport to where they are needed. "Thank you!!" These guys are great!!

First United Methodist Church Huntington — Wonderful Surprise and the Depot is grateful for the UMCOR Feminine Hygiene Kits and Personal Hygiene Kits donated by 1st Huntington UMC. These folks are making a difference and offering blessing! The Subaru was pretty much loaded down with the kits... Thank you!!!

The Depot's disaster response van will be in Christ Church's parking lot a half-hour before the Jason Moore event begins this Friday evening, Sept. 25th, and Saturday morning, Sept. 26th.

Saturday — Yeah! this is life at the Depot too:

The Depot’s kitchen floor gets a lot of traffic, especially with 15 US Army guys around for a week (not to mention the building hasn’t had water due to a broken line). With water service restored, Lynn decided the floor is priority! Much better and many “thanks”!!

Monday, Sept 14: Mason Co. WV recently experienced successive heavy rain events. Overloaded drains and rising ground water levels caused sporadic residential flooding in the Point Pleasant area. In response, fifty (50) cleaning buckets were delivered to Grace Baptist Church for local distribution. Pastor Jonathan Pinson helped unload the buckets. Blessings on your church and your efforts toward community recovery, Pastor. The church's gymnasium serves as a distribution center for paper products, dehumidifiers, and other items. Thursday, Sept. 10 — The Depot is grateful to host today’s Southern District Clergy gathering. Now folks sometimes have trouble finding the Depot’s entrance but today, Mr. Bill Eades and Mr. Wayne-O Richmond guided folks right to parking and the meeting room. Much appreciated Bill and Wayne! We even supplied a side-by-side for folks that wanted a ride from the parking lot to the meeting room.

Saturday, 22 August @ Robson Freewill Baptist Church, Robson, WV

Again, the Depot is able to offer relief supplies to the Robson community. Today's delivery included items specifically requested for the community through pastor, James Bowles. We delivered 50 brooms, 50+ 5-gal buckets for spreading lime, 30 square-point shovels, and 30 rakes. These are in addition to the 25 shovels and 20 rakes delivered earlier this week and already in use in the community where mud still rules.

The church's activity building has quickly turned into the community center for relief supplies. A look inside and one is reminded of old general store photos. There are boxes of food with bread loaves waiting to be picked up in one end of the large room while the other end resembles a hardware store its corners bristling with shovel and rake handles. Between the corners overloaded tables sway from an abundance of bleach, Brillo pads, laundry and dish detergents, other cleansers, and paper products. Scattered among the cleaning supplies are the remaining UMCOR cleaning buckets from the Depot. Bottled water is prominently piled in the middle of the room. Before leaving, we gathered with the two church workers and prayed... we asked for God's blessing but that blessing is already at work of course. Here is the Church being the Church right on the side of well-worn and patched Rte 61, Fayette County. God is here, God has never left, and God clearly will continue to work through these tough and compassionate folk.

Two Fayette Co. deliveries today: Robson Freewill Baptist Church and Armstrong Creek VFD. Cleaning buckets totaled 250 along with shovels and rakes.
