Update-
Here are the stats from our first TNR
Next up will be all in Cass Co and we will be notifying residents within areas, letting county board, city councils, mayors and police dept know.
Here is the detail for our first TNR day
12 cats
4 male
6 female
2 already fixed
All cats received spay/neuter (if applicable), rabies vaccine, medical attention, flea/tick/ear mite treatment, and ear tip
**** Because kittens grow up to reproduce so quickly, the exponential growth is staggering. According to the Pet Refuge Animal Birth Control Clinic, a single unspayed cat and her offspring can theoretically be responsible for over 10,736 kittens in just one year if none of them are fixed.
The Male's Impact: An active outdoor male will impregnate several females. If he successfully mates with just 10 unspayed females, he is responsible for 120 to 240+ kittens in a single year.
What does this all mean, not only did we improve the health and well being of several stray cats, but we prevented a MASSIVE amount of new unwanted, unowned, and stray kittens from being born.
2 of the females we spayed were in heat!
