Tick Free Beacon (TFB) is a Lyme and tick-borne disease action and support group based in Beacon, NY, serving the lower Hudson Valley. TFB’s mission is twofold: one, to help educate the public on the dangers of tick bites and Lyme Disease, and two, to take action in our community to reduce ticks and tick-borne diseases through a variety of projects and initiatives. We are an all volunteer group o

f concerned citizens who want to be proactive about, or have been affected by tick-borne illness in the Beacon, Fishkill and Cold Spring areas. The Hudson Valley has one of the highest rates of tick-borne infections in the county. The rates of Lyme and tick-borne disease continue to grow in our area and country wide. Please join us to increase the effectiveness of our efforts and help make our beautiful corner of the world safer to enjoy, from in-town backyards and public parks and trails, to school grounds. On our website site you will find an overview of Lyme disease and other tick-borne pathogens, a guide to what to do if you are bitten, links to new Lyme news and research, an overview of tick disease test methods, outside resources, home remedies for symptom relief, state rulings and a list of doctors who specialize and treat Lyme and tick-borne diseases in our area. An important reminder! No such thing as a minimum attachment time for TBD transmission. Don’t let uninformed people throw silly numbers at you, like: “oh, it’s fine if it was attached less than 24 hours.”
