National Cheese Day falls right in the beginning of Dairy Month, reminding us how important dairy is to the families we serve. From mac and cheese boxes in our Weekend Kits to blocks of fresh cheese in our senior kits, this dairy staple is one of many we are proud to provide to our neighbors. GLFB is committed to offering cheese and other nutritious dairy products that help nourish our community. 🧀

Thanks to the support of our partners, donors and volunteers, we can continue ensuring that households of all ages have access to the foods that support health, comfort and stability!

June is National Dairy Month 🥛

At the Greater Lansing Food Bank, we know milk is more than a household staple—it’s one of the most requested items from families we serve. But fresh milk isn’t always easy for food banks to store or distribute.

That’s why shelf‑stable milk is such a game‑changer. Packed with protein, calcium, and essential nutrients, it offers all the benefits of traditional milk while giving us the flexibility to keep it on hand and get it to neighbors who need it most.

This month, we’re celebrating dairy by working to expand access to nutritious, shelf‑stable milk for families across mid‑Michigan. 🤍

When school lets out for the summer, up to 24,200 mid-Michigan children facing hunger lose access to the reliable meals they normally receive during the school year. For many families, this creates a sudden gap in daily nutrition.

That’s why programs like GLFB's Weekend Kits are so important. By partnering with community organizations, we provide kid‑friendly, nutritious foods that help bridge the summer meal gap and ensure children stay nourished, energized and ready to thrive all season long. Small acts of support can make a big difference in a child’s health and a family’s stability.

Just $8 provides one Weekend Kit, so kids like Elijah can stay nourished all summer long. Donate today at glfoodbank.org/donate.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that nourishing families means caring for the whole person — body and mind alike. Research continues to show reliable access to nutritious food can help ease stress, reduce anxiety, and create a greater sense of stability for individuals and families.

When you donate to GLFB, you give stability to parents like Taylor, so she can get through the week without the constant stress of wondering whether the groceries will last until payday.

Food support does not solve every challenge our neighbors face. But knowing there will be food on the table can ease some of the mental and emotional weight neighbors carry every day.

Donate today at glfoodbank.org/donate and help provide reliable food access to mid-Michigan neighbors.

This year's NALC food drive raised more than 62,400 pounds of food — that's more than 52,000 meals!

We are so grateful to everyone who left nonperishable food and donations by their mailbox, volunteered their time or helped spread the word. Your support helps ensure that more than 106,500 mid-Michigan neighbors facing hunger can access the food they need to thrive.

A special thank you to our letter carrier partners, volunteers, donors and community members for making this year's drive a success! 📫❤️
