Last week some of our museum committee members participated in the Mid-Michigan History Conference at the Michigan History Center. This was a great event to learn about local history and network with other area organizations.

Come out to the Bath Varsity football game tomorrow night (10/9) where the Cooper Gardner memorial will be unveiled!! The museum has several items that were donated by Coops family so we could display them to honor his memory.

After months of revisions, here is the final design for our grave marker program. The markers will be made of aluminum with the recessed portion painted blue and the raised portion will be an aluminum finish. The markers can be stuck in the ground next to the grave stone or memorial of your survivor. We will be selling survivor grave markers for $150. We will also provide a free mini American flag with every marker purchased which can be placed in the top of the marker. Please fill out the attached order form to purchase a survivor marker. The museum is purchasing all of the markers for the victims and will be placing them by their gravesites. Thank you to everyone who donated to our recent fundraiser. We are happy to be part of this wonderful community event. The museum will be open from 10-1 today.

Our interns, Cori and Lauren, are coming back for some guest appearances. They will be presenting to the Township Board on Monday September 21 and the School Board on September 28 at their regular meetings to share all the progress they made digitizing the museum’s collection over the summer. Thanks to the America250MI Grant for making this possible.

Come visit us today in James Couzens Memorial Park until 2:30 where we have some old time school supplies. While you’re here pick up some school supplies provided by the Bath United Methodist Church. On another note we received a very generous donation for our grave maker program which got us to meet our goal!! We will be ordering the grave markers very soon! Thanks to everyone who donated.

On 7/16/2026, Bath School Museum committee member Chris Hagerman was invited to be on the Steve Gruber to talk about initiative to raise money for our grave marker program. The grave markers are custom designed and will be placed by the headstones of the victims of the Bath School Disaster on May 18, 1927. We will also have a separate grave markers designed for survivors.
