Tomorrow May 6th is Day of Caring. If you signed up, you should have received a phone call and/ or postcard in the mail confirming morning or afternoon. Students and adults will be arriving to take care of the tasks, like raking or cleaning gutters, that you indicated on your sign up. Questions? Call Helpers 9-1 tomorrow and we’ll try to help.

Today at Barnesville Elementary School our volunteers got to meet their 6th grade pen pal from Mrs. Solum’s class. Beginning in March the two groups wrote back and forth in journals and today they got to meet. Our volunteers were encouraged to bring pictures of themselves in their younger days and share them with their 6th grader. What a fun time meeting and sharing conversations over cookies and lemonade!

"I love doing it! I enjoy all the people that I work with. As a transportation driver, I have a chance to really get to know each older adult, to hear their stories, and to simply reminisce. Being involved in Helper's Respite Program is a treat for me-It truly is a special program for everyone involved. I get a lot of joy volunteering; I hope I bring a lot of joy as well"
