✨97th WV FFA State Convention✨

Our chapter had an awesome time this week and our hearts are full! Here’s a recap:

Wednesday - an early morning drive to Cedar Lakes to drop off our state officer candidate, Jocelyn Sherman, and three band members: Alicia Loy, Ryan Gosnell and Wyatt Wilkins.

Thursday - Savannah Taylor competes in the middle school division of the State Tractor Driving Contest and places 10th overall. 🚜

Friday - Taylor Holloway, Brady Miller, Payton Crawford and Wyatt Wilkins are up bright and early for the Land Judging and Homesite Contest. It’s a rainy day. 🌧️

Of course, members attended each session where they heard from guest speakers, state officer retiring addresses, witnessed success across the state of various awards and competition success. Congratulations to all! 🏆

Gracie Heishman was recognized for her STATE WINNING proficiency award in Agricultural Processing. 🥇

Saturday - Jesse Armentrout, Alexis McKinney, Emerson Pearce and Joseph Price was awarded the highest FFA degree a state association can bestow on a member, the WV FFA State Degree. 💛

The business session is always an emotional time where the Nominating Committee announces the slate for the next state officer team. A tough interview process with a written exam, public speaking exercises and team presentations along with serving the association. Jocelyn made the first cut and continued through meeting Nom Coms expectations. Our chapter is proudly announcing the next Eastern Region Vice President, Jocelyn Sherman! 🫶🏻

There’s always opportunities to learn something new and challenge your comfort zone. Our members witnessed this during their time at Cedar Lakes. These experiences will be brought back to our chapter for continued growth in leadership and career success. 💙
