🐎 Take the Reins Ministry
The Empty Place Only Jesus Can Fill
“For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” — Psalm 107:9
Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “They have it all together”?
They smile. They seem successful. Their family looks happy. Their life appears complete.
But what we see on the outside doesn't always tell us what is happening on the inside.
Many people are quietly carrying an emptiness that no one else can see.
The Creator made each of us with a place in our heart that only He can truly fill. We may try to fill it with relationships, possessions, success, money, accomplishments, entertainment, or even things we know aren't good for us. Some choices may look good on the surface, but none of them can provide the lasting satisfaction our souls were created to have.
Eventually, we find ourselves wanting more.
Those of us who love horses understand something about the connection between a horse and its rider. There is something peaceful about standing beside your horse, running your hand along its neck, listening to it breathe, and simply being together.
A trail ride can quiet the noise of the world.
But even the most beautiful ride eventually ends. The peace we experience on the trail cannot permanently fill the deepest places of our soul.
Only Jesus can do that.
A horse can bring companionship.�A trail can bring peace.�A beautiful sunset can bring wonder.�A loving relationship can bring joy.
But none of these things were designed to take the place of our relationship with our Creator.
If you've been trying to fill an empty place inside with everything the world has to offer, perhaps it's time to stop looking in all the wrong places.
Jesus offers something the world cannot give—forgiveness, peace, purpose, and a relationship with God that reaches beyond this temporary life.
You don't have to pretend that everything is okay.
You don't have to have your life perfectly figured out.
You simply need to come to Jesus just as you are.
He already knows what is missing. He knows every hurt, every disappointment, every mistake, and every longing of your heart. And He is waiting for you to surrender those empty places to Him.
🐎 �The next time you are standing beside your horse or riding down a familiar trail, take a moment to quiet your heart.
Ask yourself: What am I trying to use to fill the place in my heart that only God can fill?
Then give that place to Jesus.
Let Him take the reins of your heart and lead you toward the peace and fulfillment you've been searching for.

�Lord Jesus, You know the deepest places of my heart. You know the emptiness I sometimes try to hide from others and even from myself. Forgive me for looking to the things of this world to give me what only You can provide. Fill my heart with Your presence, Your peace, and Your love. Help me surrender control and allow You to take the reins of my life. May I never forget that the greatest satisfaction I can ever experience comes from knowing You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Before You Saddle Up
"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed." — Mark 1:35
If Jesus, the Son of God, began His day by spending time with His Father, how much more do we need to begin our day with Him?
Before the demands of the day come rushing in... before the phone starts ringing... before the news fills our minds... before our worries begin to speak... we should seek the voice of the One who holds the day in His hands.
As horse people, we understand the importance of preparation. Before heading out on a trail ride, we don't just throw a saddle on and take off. We check the cinch, inspect the tack, make sure our horse is ready, and study the trail ahead. A wise rider prepares before the journey begins.
Our spiritual life is no different.
Prayer is where we prepare our hearts before riding into the unknown. God's Word becomes our trail map. The Holy Spirit is our Trail Boss, guiding every step, every turn, and every obstacle we encounter.
Before you focus on your problems, call on Jesus.
Before you dwell on that doctor's diagnosis, call on Jesus.
Before fear whispers that your situation will never change, call on Jesus.
Before anxiety tells you that you're not strong enough, call on Jesus.
Before addiction tries to pull you back, call on Jesus.
Before you make a single decision, call on Jesus.
Just as a horse naturally looks to a confident rider for direction, we are called to keep our eyes fixed on Christ. Horses can become nervous when they sense uncertainty, but they gain confidence when they trust the one holding the reins. In the same way, our hearts find peace when we trust the Savior who never loses His way.
The trail ahead may be steep. There may be rocky climbs, creek crossings, fallen trees, or unexpected storms. But when Jesus is leading, we never ride alone. He sees every curve in the trail before we ever reach it.
Don't let your problems be the first thing you look at each morning. Let Jesus be the first One you look to.
When you begin your day in His presence, you'll discover that the burdens haven't necessarily disappeared—but your strength has been renewed, your perspective has changed, and your faith has grown because you've placed the reins of your life into the hands of the One who knows the way. So let go of the reins and let God REIGN in your life. Happy trails y’all.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the example Jesus gave us by seeking You first each morning. Help us to make time to meet with You before the distractions, worries, and responsibilities of the day compete for our attention.
Teach us to trust You as completely as a faithful trail horse trusts its rider. Keep our eyes fixed on Jesus instead of our fears, our illnesses, our addictions, our uncertainties, or our circumstances. Guide us down every trail You have prepared for us, and remind us that we never ride alone because You are always with us.
Today, we place the reins of our lives into Your hands. Lead us where You want us to go, strengthen us for every climb, protect us through every valley, and help us reflect Your love to everyone we meet along the trail.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

🐴 There's something specific that happens when a teenager with anxiety stands next to a horse for the first time — a shift that no therapist's office, no medication review, no breathing exercise quite replicates. The horse requires presence. It can feel your hands trembling. It can sense your shallow breathing. And because horses are honest, they mirror what you bring — which means a nervous teenager quickly gets real-time biofeedback from an animal that weighs ten times what they do and couldn't care less about their social media. Clinical research on equine-assisted psychotherapy shows measurable benefits for adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Improved emotional regulation, better social skills, decreased symptoms of PTSD. The numbers matter. But the teenagers in these programs usually don't talk in numbers. They say things like: "He doesn't judge me." "When I'm with the horses I forget about everything else." "I felt brave for the first time." The horse doesn't know your diagnosis. It doesn't know what grade you got or how many followers you have. It knows how you feel right now, in this moment. And for a teenager drowning in the noise of modern life, that present-moment requirement from an enormous, gentle creature can be exactly the anchor they needed.
