We are a 501 (c)3 organization and fully depend on public donations and our adoption fees for support.

🎉🐾 What better way to start the week than with an ADOPTION! 🐾🎉

Today we’re celebrating our special boy Blake and his very own Gotcha Day! ❤️

But this wasn’t just any adoption day… it also happened to be his new momma’s birthday! 🎂🎁 And she’ll tell you that Blake was the very best birthday present she could have ever given herself.

Blake agrees! 🥰

He has settled into his new home like he’s lived there forever, and we couldn’t be happier watching this boy begin his happily-ever-after.

Now, every year they’ll have two very special reasons to celebrate together — his Gotcha Day and her birthday.💕🐾

Happy Birthday, Momma! And congratulations, Blake! Your forever family was worth the wait. ❤️

Our hearts and prayers are with everyone directly impacted by Hurricane Isaias and those along the East Coast continuing to face the challenges left behind in its aftermath. 💙

We send special prayers for the families who have lost their homes, the individuals who have been displaced, and the innocent animals who are frightened, lost, or separated from the people they love. 🐾❤️

May those affected find safety, shelter, comfort, and hope in the days ahead. May rescue teams, first responders, animal shelters, and everyone helping with recovery be given strength and protection.

People and animals alike deserve safety, compassion, and a place to call home. May brighter skies and better days come soon. 🌈☀️

💗🐾 SWEET BEGINNINGS FOR DEJA! 🐾💗

There are some adoptions that remind us exactly why we do what we do. And Deja’s story is one of them. ❤️

Our beautiful senior girl, Deja, has found her forever home… and her forever man. 🥰

These two seniors connected almost immediately, and the companionship they have found in each other has brought something truly special into both of their lives. Deja has a person to love, and her dad has that four-legged companionship that can make a house feel like home again. 🏡🐾

And Deja is definitely making herself at home! 😂

Saturday mornings now mean Waffle House, where Deja hangs out with her dad and somehow manages to get a little bacon snuck her way.🥓❤️

She’s also becoming quite the local celebrity! Deja is getting around town as she and her dad enjoy day trips, errands, and simply spending time together. It’s not about doing anything extraordinary — it’s about having a companion beside you to enjoy all those ordinary moments that suddenly become a little more special. ❤️

And THIS is exactly why we started our SOS — Seniors Owning Seniors — program.

Because senior dogs deserve the comfort, love and companionship of a senior human. And senior humans deserve the unconditional love, friendship and joy that only a dog can bring into their lives.

With your continued support, we can bring more of these special matches together while helping take away the worry of medical expenses for the senior dog. Instead of worrying about the next vet bill, our SOS families can focus on what really matters…

Making memories. Taking day trips. Sharing breakfast. Running errands. And simply enjoying each other’s company. 🐾❤️

🍂🐾 **FALL IS IN THE AIR… AND SO IS THE NEED FOR RESCUE.** 🐾🍂

As the leaves begin to change, we also see an overwhelming number of dogs showing up in shelters and coming in as owner surrenders. And today, we want you to meet two very sweet souls who were left behind in heartbreaking circumstances.

💙 **Meet Buck & Doe.** 🤎

These two gentle Dobermans were **abandoned in a horse stall with no food or water.** Thankfully, they are now safe with us, but both are in pretty rough shape and are going to need some time, TLC and plenty of love.

Buck has a known thyroid issue and is already receiving treatment. Doe has a damaged eye that appears to have been injured a very long time ago. She is blind in that eye, but thankfully, it does not appear that she will need any medical treatment for it.

But you know what these two do need?

LOVE. And lots of it.❤️

Both Buck and Doe are incredibly sweet and absolutely crave affection. They have been through enough, and now they are going to experience what it feels like to have people care for them, spoil them and remind them that they matter.

From what we know, both are barn-cat safe, friendly with other dogs and love people. They are not bonded, so they do not need to be adopted together.

For now, their job is simple: eat, rest, heal and soak up every bit of TLC we can give them. 🥰

We’ll keep you updated as Buck and Doe continue their journey and will let you know when each of these sweet seniors is ready to find their forever home.

🐾 RESCUE REALITY: Why Isn't the Dog Available for Adoption Yet? 🐾

You see a new Doberman featured on our Welcome Wednesday post.

Maybe you love the look. ❤️
Maybe it’s the color.
Maybe their story pulls at your heart.

You’re excited! This could be the one.

So you comment: “Would this dog be a good fit for me?”

And the answer is always : “We don’t know”

We understand that can be disappointing. But there’s a very good reason.

When a new dog enters rescue, they are going through a HUGE adjustment.

Maybe they were dumped at a shelter. Maybe they were found as a stray. Maybe their owner surrendered them. Then they hop into a multi-car transport headed for their foster home.

Think about that from the dog's perspective.

They don't understand why everything they've known has suddenly changed.

Now they're in a new house, with people they've never met and resident dogs they don't know.

Some dogs are curious and immediately start exploring. Most are reserved. Some are completely shut down.

We can't accurately tell you who that dog is on Day 1.

Our fosters need time to let the dog decompress and begin to show their true personality. They watch how the dog interacts with people, dogs, their environment, and everyday life.

After about 3 weeks, a foster can often begin to get a much better feel for the dog's personality, needs and what type of home will be the best fit.

And sometimes it takes longer. We don't rush that process.

Our fosters are incredibly good at what they do, and they will take whatever time is needed to understand each dog.

Because our goal isn't simply to find a home, it's to find the RIGHT home.

And if you haven't yet applied, you need to do that first so we can get to know YOU!

So when you see a new Doberman on Welcome Wednesday and we don't have all the answers yet, please know that doesn't mean we're ignoring your questions.

We're still getting to know the dog, too. ❤️

The wait is part of the rescue process—and it's one of the most important parts.

🐾❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT TO OHIO DOBERFEST! ❤️🐾

What a beautiful day spent with so many wonderful people and of course, SO many happy Dobermans and Nobermans! 🐾
It looked like the pups had an absolute blast meeting new fur-friends, getting love from humans, participating in contests and games, etc... and we were so happy to meet so many of you and share the day together!! 🌞

Thank you for coming out, supporting Doberman Underground, and making the day so special! ❤️

These are just a few pictures from the day. We’re pretty sure there were some very tired pups sleeping VERY well Sunday night! 😂🐾❤️
