Happy Emergency Nurses Week!

This week, Aurora EMS would like to recognize and thank the incredible Emergency Department nurses who work tirelessly to care for patients when they need it most.

From the moment we arrive at the ER to transfer patient care, we see firsthand the dedication, compassion, and teamwork that goes into everything you do.

Emergency medicine takes a team, and we are grateful to work alongside such skilled and dedicated professionals. Your hard work often goes unseen, but it never goes unappreciated.

To all of our local ER nurses, thank you for the long hours, quick thinking, and compassionate care you provide to our communities every day.

Bringing New Ideas Back to Aurora!

Aurora EMS Chief Dave Phelps and Captain Charlie Jackson are in Houston, Texas, attending the 2026 Natural Disasters Expo, an event bringing together emergency response professionals, industry leaders, and organizations from across the country.

The expo provides an opportunity to explore new emergency response equipment, emerging technologies, disaster preparedness strategies, and innovative approaches to public safety.

While large-scale disaster response is a major focus of the event, many of the ideas and resources being showcased can also benefit smaller, community-based EMS agencies like ours.

Our goal is to bring valuable knowledge and ideas back to Aurora that could help us:

* Improve emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
* Explore new equipment and technology that could benefit our crews and patients.
* Strengthen coordination with neighboring emergency response agencies.
* Identify practical ways to improve our day-to-day operations and better serve our community.

Not every improvement requires a major investment. Sometimes, a new perspective, a better process, or an idea shared by another agency can make a meaningful difference.

At Aurora EMS, we believe that continuing to learn, adapt, and explore new opportunities is an important part of providing the best possible care to the communities we serve.

Cold Mornings, Warm Afternoons — Welcome to Indiana!

It’s that time of year again when you leave the house needing a jacket and find yourself wishing you had shorts by the afternoon!

With temperatures constantly changing throughout the day, Aurora EMS wants to remind everyone to take a few simple precautions as we transition into fall.

* Dress in layers: Chilly mornings can quickly turn into warm afternoons. Wearing layers allows you to adjust throughout the day.
* Stay hydrated: Even when the mornings are cool, staying hydrated is just as important as it is during the summer.
* Be mindful of temperature changes: Children, older adults, and individuals with certain medical conditions may be more sensitive to changing temperatures.
* Don’t let the cool mornings fool you: Warmer afternoon temperatures can still lead to heat-related illnesses, especially during outdoor activities.

Fall weather in southeastern Indiana can certainly keep us guessing, but a little preparation goes a long way!

Apparently covering the Aurora Farmer’s Fair also includes making sure the rides are safe… at least according to AEMT Tracy and EMT Sophie.

Between calls and helping out at the fair, these two managed to squeeze in a little “field testing” on a few of the rides.

We’re still waiting on their official safety report, but judging by the pictures, the testing may have been a little too enjoyable.

Good morning, Aurora!

The Aurora Farmer’s Fair Parade is here, and we’re starting the morning with breakfast!

Aurora EMS will begin serving at 8:00 AM today and continue until the parade begins at 10:00 AM.

Stop by and grab some biscuits & gravy, donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, or chocolate milk before enjoying the fair and parade.

We accept cash and Venmo — no cards.

A big thank you to our local partners who helped make this breakfast possible: Little Farmer’s Market, Rising Sun IGA, Main Street Market, and Kroger.

We hope to see everyone this morning. Come hungry!

We’re at the Aurora Farmer’s Fair!

Aurora EMS is out at the Farmer’s Fair and ready for a great weekend in downtown Aurora! Our crews are here providing EMS coverage throughout the festivities and making sure help is close by if needed.

If you see us out and about, be sure to stop by and say hello!

And don’t forget! Saturday morning we’ll be serving breakfast starting at 8:00 a.m. until the parade begins at 10:00 a.m. We’ll have biscuits & gravy, donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, and chocolate milk.

Start your Saturday morning with Aurora EMS before heading out for the Aurora Farmer’s Fair Parade!

Join us Saturday, October 3, from 8:00 AM–10:00 AM for breakfast. We’ll have biscuits & gravy, donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, and chocolate milk ready to go before the parade kicks off at 10:00 AM.

A Fun Day at Dillsboro Elementary!

Today, Aurora EMS had the pleasure of visiting the Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Dillsboro Elementary School alongside the Dillsboro Fire Department!

Our crews brought an ambulance and Responder 5 to give students an up-close look at our emergency vehicles and equipment. We talked about what we do as first responders, how our equipment helps us care for patients, and what to do in an emergency.

We had a great time answering questions, showing off our equipment, and getting to know some of the youngest members of our community!

Thank you to Dillsboro Elementary School for having us and to Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department for joining us. We always enjoy opportunities to educate and connect with the next generation of our community!
