🏁 Meet Anchor: Professional Zoomie Champion Seeking His Forever Home! 🏁
Are you looking for a loyal best friend with a heart of gold and just the right amount of goofy? Then it's time to meet Anchor!
Anchor is a 6-year-old Basset Hound/Curr mix who combines the best of both worlds—a laid-back cuddle buddy indoors and a playful athlete outdoors. His favorite activity? Running the legendary "Basset 500" around the backyard at top speed, ears flapping and tail wagging!
This handsome boy is:
🐾 Potty trained
🐾 Great with other dogs
🐾 Sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented
🐾 Easygoing and never the bossy type
🐾 Always ready to be part of the family fun
Anchor would love a home with another playful dog and a securely fenced yard where he can continue perfecting his racing skills. While he enjoys barking at cats from time to time, he's never shown any aggression toward them.
When Anchor first arrived at Suncoast Basset Rescue, his skin was in rough condition. Thanks to the incredible care of his foster mom, his skin has healed beautifully and his coat is growing back wonderfully. Through every step of his journey, Anchor has remained the same loving, gentle soul who simply wants to be loved.

🎉 Adoption Announcement 🎉
Tallahassee, now Tally, has officially found her forever home with Maryann and Arthur, and we couldn’t be happier for this sweet girl! 💕🐾
Since joining her new family, Tally has settled right in and is enjoying all the love, attention, and comforts of home. One of the best parts of her new life is spending time with her basset sister, June. Whether they’re exploring together, relaxing side by side, or simply enjoying each other’s company, the two girls have become wonderful companions.
It’s always special to see a rescue dog find the perfect fit, and Tally’s happy ending is exactly why we do what we do. She is loved, cherished, and living the life every basset deserves.
Congratulations to MaryAnn and Arthur on their newest family member, and congratulations to Tally on finding the forever home she was always meant to have. Wishing this beautiful family many years of love, laughter and adventures ❤️

Meet Coltrane, SBR’s newest foster!

We aren’t sure how old this sweet girl is—our best guess is somewhere around 4 or 5 years old. Coltrane’s story began ~3 years ago when she was found wandering by her owner.. Despite efforts to find where she came from, no one ever came forward to claim her, so she stayed.

Unfortunately, life hasn’t always been easy for Coltrane. She has spent all of her time living outdoors and has received no veterinary care. We do know that she has had at least one litter of puppies—an incredible 13 puppies in a single litter but only 6 survived.

Now Coltrane is safe with SBR and beginning the next chapter of her life. She’ll be receiving the medical care, love, and attention she deserves while we learn more about her and search for the perfect home.

A huge thank you to Elizabeth and Alex for picking up Coltrane and helping with her transport. Thank you also to Karen for assisting with transport, and to Joanne and Chris for opening their home and temporarily fostering Coltrane.

❤️🐾 Meet Peach 🐾❤️

Peach is SBR’s newest foster, and while she is only 4 years old, she has already experienced more instability than any dog should.
From what we know, Peach has been passed between several different homes during her short life. In her most recent home, she was spending 10–12 hours a day alone while her owners were attempting to rehome her. Not surprisingly, Peach wasn’t happy about being left alone for such long periods and made her feelings known.
One thing we learned after she was picked up is that Peach is heartworm positive. While that wasn’t the news we were hoping for, she will receive the care and treatment she needs. We are hopeful that everything else we learn about Peach will be positive as we get to know her better.
A very special thank you to Jen for picking Peach up and to both Jen and Carol for helping with her transport. Carol and her basset CJ will also be fostering Peach. We are so grateful for this team effort that brought her into rescue and gave her an immediate soft landing.

🎉🐾 FOSTER FAIL ALERT! 🐾🎉
Some foster dogs just find exactly where they belong—and that's certainly the case for Memphis!
We're thrilled to announce that Memphis has officially been adopted by his foster family, volunteer Nicole and her husband Jeffrey. ❤️
When 8½-year-old Memphis arrived at Suncoast Basset Rescue, he weighed just 34 pounds and had been living outdoors. During his first veterinary visit, he was diagnosed with a severe urinary tract infection that had likely gone untreated for quite some time. It took three months and multiple rounds of antibiotics before he was finally healthy and infection-free.
Today, Memphis is a completely different dog! He now weighs a healthy 46 pounds and is living the life every basset deserves. He loves running and playing with his brother Levi, keeping his fur sister Mandy on her toes, and even enjoys terrorizing Jackson the cow whenever the opportunity arises! 🤣
Most importantly, Memphis is surrounded by a family that loves him dearly and has given him the care, patience, and second chance he needed.
Congratulations, Nicole and Jeffrey, on making Memphis an official member of your family. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to this handsome boy. Watching his transformation has been incredible, and we couldn't be happier to see him truly living his best life.

Grace is waiting for someone to choose her.
Not because she's a puppy.
Not because she's the newest dog in rescue.
Not because she has a heartbreaking story.
Just because she's Grace.
We don't know where she came from or how she ended up alone in a shelter as a stray. We only know that she deserved better than that.
What we do know is that Grace loves deeply. She wants to be close to her people, curled up beside them on the couch, riding shotgun on errands, or simply following them from room to room. She doesn't ask for much—just love, companionship, and a place to call home.
At around 11 years old, Grace has somehow become one of those dogs people scroll past. But her foster family sees what we see: a happy, healthy, affectionate girl with so much life left to live and so much love left to give.
Every dog deserves a forever home. Not just the young ones. Not just the easy ones. All of them.
Especially Grace. ❤️

Our Full Throttle for Second Chances Auction is racing toward the starting line and we're collecting bottles for one of our most popular attractions—the Wine & Spirits Pull!

We're looking for donations of bottles of wine or spirits valued at $20 or more to help raise funds for the bassets in our care.

Got a bottle sitting around that deserves a second chance?

🍷 Bought a case of wine and got tired of it after bottle #10?

🥃 Inherited a wine cellar but prefer beer?

We're thrilled to share that 7-year-old Buddy has found his forever home with Ron and his partner, Deborah! 💙

Buddy's life has changed dramatically. He went from living outside with no medical care and almost being surrendered to the local shelter, to becoming the king of the castle and the center of attention in a loving home. Now, he's surrounded by comfort, care, and all the love a basset could ever want.

Ron and Deborah, thank you for opening your hearts and home to Buddy. We are so grateful that you've given him the family, security, and happiness he deserves. We couldn't be happier knowing Buddy is so loved and well cared for. Congratulations Ron, Deborah, and Buddy!

🐾 Meet Nella! 🐾

Nella is SBR’s newest foster! This beautiful 1-year-old girl was surrendered when the senior dog in her household wasn't too thrilled with having a young pup around. While it's a sad situation for Nella, we're grateful she's now safe and on her way to finding the perfect forever home.
