mental disabilities to participate in the community.

-Our History-

Trillium has been serving people with disabilities in Washington since 1983. We originated as a demonstration project by the University of Oregon to assist a local manufacturer of defibrillators, Physio-Control, in the employment of assemblers with developmental disabilities. This successful project demonstrated to the nation that people with significant disabilities could participate fully in businesses producing quality products of a critical nature. This demonstration helped to influence national legislation on supported employment and pave the way for other people with developmental disabilities to obtain jobs in the community, influence government to move toward community employment and away from sheltered employment, and inspire other businesses to employ people with significant disabilities.

Happy Anniversary, Anish!

He says, "What I like best about working at the Cinema is the people. My favorite task is cleaning the benches in the lobby.”

Anish has been part of the Yakima Theatres team for two years, and his outgoing personality has made him a wonderful addition to the workplace.

His coworkers say, “We love working with Anish. He always greets customers with a smile!”

From keeping the lobby clean to welcoming customers, Anish brings a friendly attitude and strong attention to customer service to every shift. His dedication helps create a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the theater doors.

John is celebrating 3 years at Gulati Dental And Associates!

Working four days a week as a sterile technician, John takes pride in a job well done. From cleaning exam rooms to sterilizing dental tools in the autoclave, he enjoys working with his tools and machines and putting his mechanical skills to work.

His coworkers describe John as a team player who is always willing to help wherever he’s needed. He’s even stepped outside his comfort zone to occasionally cover the front desk during lunchtime.

John brings a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to the dental office, and his coworkers appreciate all that he contributes.

The Gulati team celebrated John’s anniversary with a pizza party and plenty of congratulations! Here's to many more years.

A big thank you to the Port Gamble S'Klallams Tribe for inviting Trillium to provide Disability Communication & Inclusion (DCI) training this week!

Trillium’s Executive Director, Karen, and Program Manager, Lindsey, were honored to share this training and have meaningful conversations about creating more inclusive workplaces and communities.

Lindsey also participated in a panel discussion about the role of job coaches and how they support both employees and workplaces in building successful, inclusive employment experiences.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, share, and partner with the S'Klallam Port Gamble Tribe as we work together toward a more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and belong!

Ramsey has found a place to belong through Rainier Adaptive Sports.

Rainier Adaptive Sports has also provided Ramsey with a loaner sports wheelchair, giving him the equipment he needs to take part.

This is what community inclusion can look like: finding opportunities that connect with a person's interests, building relationships, and creating space for everyone to participate.
