Trillium Employment Services is an organization committed to developing employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our staff of skilled professionals work closely with businesses and applicants to ensure a quality match and long term success. In addition to our focus on supported employment, we are equally committed to developing supports for individuals with developmental disabilities to participate in the community.

-Our History-

Trillium has been serving people with disabilities in Washington since 1983. We originated as a demonstration project by the University of Oregon to assist a local manufacturer of defibrillators, Physio-Control, in the employment of assemblers with developmental disabilities. This successful project demonstrated to the nation that people with significant disabilities could participate fully in businesses producing quality products of a critical nature. This demonstration helped to influence national legislation on supported employment and pave the way for other people with developmental disabilities to obtain jobs in the community, influence government to move toward community employment and away from sheltered employment, and inspire other businesses to employ people with significant disabilities.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re proud to recognize Yakima Theatres Cinema as Trillium’s 2026 Most Active Advocate in Yakima County!

Yakima Cinema has gone above and beyond to create opportunities for people to learn new skills, grow in their roles, and be valued members of the team. Anish, shown holding the award, just celebrated his two-year anniversary as a valued member of the team.

Along with employing two Trillium clients, they’ve welcomed people into the theater to explore job skills and gain experience in a real workplace. Their management team takes the time to understand each employee’s strengths, find tasks that are a good fit, and introduce new responsibilities as people gain confidence and experience.

What stands out most is how inclusion is part of everyday life at Yakima Cinema. Coworkers with disabilities are simply coworkers. The team celebrates milestones, supports one another through life changes, and works together to help everyone succeed.

This is what Trillium’s mission to promote inclusive community and employment opportunities looks like in action. It’s about creating workplaces where people have the chance to contribute, build skills, and be part of the team.

Gloria has officially completed her final shift at Chick-fil-A Federal Way after a memorable 8 years!

What a beautiful way to close one chapter. Gloria was surrounded by so much joy, love, and appreciation from her coworkers and customers who have been part of her journey over the years.

Now, Gloria is stepping into a new chapter at Cedar River Montessori and we could not be happier to see where this next opportunity takes her!

Stories like Gloria’s remind us why inclusive employment matters. A job is more than a paycheck. It is a place to build relationships, contribute, grow, and be part of a community.

Happy 9th Work Anniversary, Chad!

Nine years at Key IGA is a milestone worth celebrating!

Chad has shown dedication, consistency, and a real commitment to learning and growing in his role. Recently, he’s been expanding his skills in the deli department, taking on new responsibilities and finding new ways to support his team.

When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Chad shared, “I love my job, working with my coworkers and working in the deli department.”

We love hearing that Chad enjoys both the work he does and the people he works alongside. His willingness to keep learning and take on new challenges is something to celebrate.

Little Bake Shop may be a small team, but they’re making a big difference in Yakima! Known for their delicious pies and baked goods, especially during the holidays and special events, they’ve quickly become a local favorite. And if you haven’t tried their chai yet, you’re missing out!

Trillium named Little Bake Shop our 2026 Best New Employer in Yakima County for many reasons. Over the past year, Little Bake Shop has built a wonderful partnership with Trillium. Their team sees the value each employee brings and has worked closely with us to help Dylan, pictured here holding the balloons, build skills, confidence, and success in his role.

Running a business comes with changes and challenges, but the Little Bake Shop team has stayed flexible, communicated openly, and continued working with us to make sure Dylan has the support he needs to succeed. That kind of teamwork makes a real difference.

Congratulations to Elias on starting his new job at Grocery Outlet Kingston!

Elias is excited to share this new chapter and proud to be part of the Grocery Outlet team. Elias found a role that matches his strengths and passion for retail.

In his new position, Elias supports his teammates by stocking and facing products, returning carts, watering flowers, and helping to keep the store looking its best.

Elias shared that he is happy to have a job he truly enjoys, and his favorite part so far is the chips and snacks aisle — where he gets to discover new flavors and share his excitement for all the options!

Powerhouse Grill | 2026 Most Inclusive Workplace | Yakima County

What makes a workplace inclusive? At Powerhouse Grill, it’s about more than a job. It’s about being part of the team.

For nearly four years, JJ (seen here right in the middle of his team) has been part of the Powerhouse Grill team. Over that time, his hours and responsibilities have grown, along with the relationships he’s built with coworkers and customers.

The team at Powerhouse makes an effort to ensure everyone feels included, both on and off the clock. Whether it’s spending time together at the movies or supporting one another at work, they show that belonging is built through everyday actions.

Powerhouse Grill also opens its doors to people with disabilities who want to explore employment through job shadows and workplace assessments. By taking part in a video project with See Abilities, they’ve also shared their experience as an inclusive employer and helped others see what’s possible.

Celebrating 's Grill + Bar, Trillium’s Most Active Advocate in Pierce County!

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re proud to recognize Applebee’s for the support they’ve shown Sean and their partnership with Trillium.

From management to team members, Applebee’s has helped create a welcoming workplace where Sean is supported, included, and encouraged to succeed. Their willingness to work alongside Trillium and be part of Sean’s employment journey is a great example of what happens when employers make inclusion a priority.

The best part? Seeing Sean right in the middle of his work team, surrounded by the people he works alongside and the Trillium employment support team. That’s what inclusive employment is all about: being part of the team, having people in your corner, and knowing you belong.
