The Atlantic City Alumnae Chapter was chartered in 1979 by seventeen Sorors wanting to ensure the legacy of Delta in the community. Over its 40 years of existence, the chapter’s programs have included the Assault on Adult Illiteracy, Teenage Pregnancy/Parenting, Support of Black Single Mothers, School America and all Summits programs. Our public service commitment includes participating in voter r
egistration and empowerment drives, providing food and clothing drives for community charities, sponsoring the Tiny Tots Cotillion to provide scholarships for local needy college students, and presenting Gospel Nights to benefit the United Negro College Fund. Atlantic City Alumnae Chapter has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to area youth in hopes that they will continue to carry the torch of excellence.Our Health Initiative programs are implemented through community partnerships with local health agencies. Our collaborative have produced town hall meeting on health issues, health fairs and screenings, American Heart Association. Heart Walks, our annual Memorial Breakfast to benefit the Breast Cancer Funds of various agencies, and the Win to Lose Weight loss challenge, to name a few. Our services toward women children include the Mother Hale Project, Supper with Santa, Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, and Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS and our continued support of the Atlantic County Womens’ Center.
