Happy National Turtle Week!

Join TerraCorps Member Delana for a behind-the-scenes look at turtle trapping at our Eagleville Barrens Conservation Area in Orange, MA.
This week also coincides with nesting season for many of Massachusetts' turtle species. As turtles travel in search of nesting sites, they're more likely to encounter roads and other hazards. Keep an eye out for turtles while driving near wetlands and help protect these important members of our ecosystem.

Think you can identify all of these amazing species? Click each image to see animal ID’s! 🐸

These colorful field finds come from our recently protected Eagleville Barrens Conservation Area on Lake Rohunta in Orange and New Salem. From vernal pools and wetlands to forests and shoreline habitats, this special property is teeming with life.

Protecting places like Eagleville Barrens helps ensure these species—and countless others—have the habitat they need to thrive for generations to come.

🏡🌲 In preparation for permanently protecting a newly donated property in Shelburne, Mount Grace Land Trust staff and volunteers from the AEPi fraternity at UMass spent the day dismantling an old cabin and removing years of accumulated materials from the hilltop site.

From old heaters and insulation to pots and pans, it was a major effort — and an important step toward restoring and stewarding the land for the future. Natural wood materials from the structure will be left to biodegrade on site.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the project possible, including our partners at Franklin Land Trust, who will hold the Conservation Restriction on the property. 💚

We’re delighted that so many members of our community have embraced our new look! And while our fresh new colors and visual identity are an exciting step forward, they’re just one part of what’s ahead.

Alongside our new look, we’re excited to introduce a newly designed website and a new member magazine arriving soon in mailboxes across the region.

Named after Skyfields Arboretum — a beautiful property bequeathed to us by Margaret Power Biggs and home to our headquarters — Skyfields magazine will share more stories from the field than ever before.

From new features on our website, including an interactive hiking map, to updated publications, trailhead signage, and community materials, these changes are designed to help more people connect with the land and the work of conservation.

New look, same mission — and a renewed invitation to explore, protect, and belong!
