Spring Refresh Success!

Today was our annual community service project, and we had a great time partnering with the North Woods Dressage Association at the fairgrounds! 🐴

We rolled up our sleeves to clean stalls, pull a million staples, and help give the judge’s booths a fresh coat of paint.

Huge thanks to the NWDA for letting us join forces, and to all who participated!

New Season, New Milestones! 🐴

We kicked off our first mounted meeting of the year with a perfect blend of celebration and skill-building!

🌟 Celebrating Our Members
• A Big Welcome: A huge shoutout to our newest member—we’re so glad you’ve joined the herd!

• Major Milestone: We are bursting with pride to announce that one of our own is officially a USEF Dressage Technical Delegate! Huge congratulations on this incredible achievement.

📖 Education in Action
There is always something new to learn! We spent our unmounted time breaking down the equipment and mechanics of proper lunging. It was great to watch our C-riders step up and practice their technique with the handsome Kelvin! To finish on a high note, we tackled some Working Equitation obstacles—the perfect way to test our focus and have some fun. 🚩

Several of our members spent their Sunday leveling up at the Northern Lakes Region Standards & Certifications Clinic! 🐎✨

We got a front-row seat to the progression of certification levels—D-1 through B—as outlined in the Standards of Proficiency. We were so fortunate to watch National Examiners Bunny and Sarah work with demo riders across Western, Dressage, Eventing, Hunt Seat Equitation, and more.

Huge thanks to:

* National Examiners Bunny & Sarah
* The brave demo riders 🏇
* Top Hat & Tails Pony Club for hosting & organizing such an informative day!

We’re coming home with full notebooks and tons of inspiration!

We were so fortunate to have farrier Steve join us for a deep dive into the world of hoof care! From understanding thrush and farrier tools to the ins and outs of shoeing, we walked away with so much new knowledge. Julie Davies Pagels kept the momentum going, covering the importance of safe trailering with an equipment scavenger hunt and an engaging Q&A session.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this day possible:
• Steve for sharing your invaluable expertise!
• Julie for always improving our horsemanship!
• Dax, our best boy demo horse, for being such a star!
• Heda, our super mascot, for bringing the smiles!

A huge shout-out to our alumna, Rachel Tomczak, for the presentation today!
It was an incredible session covering heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and human first aid. We especially appreciated the insights on how these symptoms can manifest in our horses—keeping both horse and rider safe is always our top priority as we gear up for the season!
We also took a deep dive into concussion awareness, a topic that is so critical for our equestrian community.
Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your expertise and giving back to the next generation of riders. We are so proud of our alumna and the wealth of knowledge she brings as both a nurse and a dressage instructor!

For our November meeting we learned about boots and bandages and practiced on good ole Stumpy, the most patient horse in the world. For the mounted portion we did a skills course, a favorite of Dax and Wilson. We are so fortunate to be riding outside mid November. Thanks members for the enthusiastic participation.

Our October meeting was a busy one! First, we learned about the equine digestive system. 🐴 Next, we teamed up to identify foods as roughage, succulents, or concentrates. 🍎 🥕
We discussed proper distances for trot poles & how to adjust them. We wrapped up by riding a ground pole course & working on our 2-point position.

Thank you, Julie, for the prize bags & a great day of learning!
