Did you know that the Ulah Volunteer Fire Department has an emergency siren on the roof of its headquarters station. This siren is still in operation and is used for different things including special occasions, for certain types of weather emergencies and also several times throughout the year for routine maintenance / testing. The siren previously was owned by the City of Asheboro and was once on the municipal building on Church Street in Asheboro. This siren was purchased in 1972 by our fire department to originally alert members to emergency calls for service. Please keep in mind if this siren is activated this does not automatically mean there is an emergency or an evacuation. Our department siren is not intended to be a standalone alert system for such. Please have other resources to check for this type of alerts such as our departments and other emergency services page, local news channels, or other resources.
