Did you know that one unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce hundreds of kittens in just a few years? With so many cats already in shelters and rescues, spaying and neutering is one of the most important things we can do to help reduce pet overpopulation.

Fireworks have already started and several communities have them planned for this weekend. Then the big fireworks displays next week celebrating our country’s 250th birthday. This means fireworks, crowds, LOST ANIMALS!

Now is the time to contact your vet for any medicines you need to keep your animals calm.

Make sure they have collars on with tags and phone numbers.

Make sure your animal is microchipped and the contact information is up to date!

Check your gates/fences. (If you use an underground fence, check the batteries in their collars.)

Take a few minutes to take updated pictures of your pets (individually with no one in the pictures) incase you need to create a post regarding a lost animal.

Consider bringing your pets inside at night when the fireworks start.

Take steps now to ensure your pet stays safe and doesn’t end up lost or at the shelter!
