Every woman, girl and young person deserves safety, dignity and opportunities to build a stronger future.

In September 2026, South Sudan Women United (SSWU) supported refugees, returnees, and host communities in Chemodi, Tebek, and Renk County through protection outreach, mental health awareness, and women’s livelihood training.

UNHCR and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) support our work, with GAC funding provided through Oxfam. We thank our partners and donors for supporting this vital work.

Join us in expanding protection, psychosocial support, and livelihood opportunities for communities affected by conflict and forced displacement.

August brought learning, dignity, and opportunity at South Sudan Women United. In Renk Town, SSWU engaged secondary-school students in conversations about mental health, stress, trauma, peer support, and seeking assistance. We also launched a Women’s Economic Empowerment Project focused on tailoring and producing reusable sanitary pads—connecting livelihood skills with menstrual health and dignity. SSWU continued providing GBV prevention and response, psychosocial support, case management, referrals, community outreach, and WASH awareness. We thank our donors and partners, Oxfam and UNHCR, for supporting our initiatives. Together, we are building safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

On World Humanitarian Day, South Sudan Women United pays tribute to humanitarian workers serving communities impacted by conflict, displacement, hunger, disease, and climate-related emergencies. We recognize the local and frontline responders who work under challenging and hazardous conditions to protect lives, restore dignity, and foster hope for vulnerable populations. We also commemorate those humanitarian workers who have lost their lives in service.
We reaffirm our commitment to supporting women, children, refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons, and host communities within South Sudan and globally. We advocate for the protection of humanitarian personnel, secure access to affected populations, and increased investment in locally led humanitarian initiatives.
Let us collectively uphold the principle of prioritizing humanity above politics, striving to ensure that no individual is left behind.
