Endangered Languages Week October 31 - November 4, 2011 with events on Endangered Languages

According to National Geographic's Enduring Voices, a language dies every 14 days, with an estimated loss of half the world's 7000 languages by the year 2100. The Department of Linguistics & TESOL at UT Arlington has partnered with other campus organizations to highlight the plight of languages in danger of extinction. Endangered Languages Week continues! Center for Linguistic Diversity in Seoul, Korea. Major documentation work has been done on Altaic languages (including Chulym, the language that appears in the documentary 'The Linguists' - which we are screening today at 5 pm, with a panel discussion afterwards.
