It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Rod Drake. Rod lost his battle with COVID late Saturday night and passed peacefully at 10:51 p.m. on September 18, 2021. Rod has been with Showtime Fastpitch since 2013. His talents in coaching and mentoring were noted early on and shortly after joining he was named Vice President. Rod was an integral part in the growth of Showtime Fastpitch helping to elevate the status of the organization. His faith and commitment to his family was apparent every time he stepped on the field. Rod’s dedication to Showtime and youth sports through AGSA, was essential in building our organization from 4 teams (when he joined) to 30 across Texas at its peak. His spirit and love for the sport live on through the thousands of lives he touched over the years. Over 65 student athletes went on to play softball collegiately during Rod’s tenure, a feat that could not have been accomplished without his vision. To Rods Wife Kim and children Clayton, Chloe and Cade, I want to say thank you for sharing this amazing man with us. During this time of heartache, we pray the love of God embraces you all.
