🌱 LEADERSHIP REQUIRES YOU TO GET IN THE ROOM.
As a leader, you sometimes have to intentionally put yourself in the necessary rooms, not because you know everything, but because you understand that there is always more to learn.
Today, I had the opportunity to attend the 2026 North Texas Nonprofit Summit: Rooted in Leadership, Growing in Impact.
And that theme speaks directly to where I am in this season of leadership.
Leadership isn’t simply about having a title. It’s about being willing to learn, listen, evolve, ask questions, receive wisdom, and grow.
Sometimes the room you need isn’t the room where you’re the most knowledgeable.
Sometimes it’s the room where you’re challenged.
Sometimes it’s the room where you realize there is more work to do.
And sometimes, it’s simply the room that reminds you why you started.
As the leader of Jewel’s Comfort Keeper, I recognize that the growth of the organization requires my personal growth as a leader.
If I want to lead effectively, I have to keep learning.
If I want JCK to grow, I have to grow.
If I want our impact to expand, I have to be willing to expand my capacity.
So, I will continue to put myself in the rooms.
The rooms where I can learn.
The rooms where I can connect.
The rooms where I can be challenged.
The rooms where I can gain wisdom.
The rooms where I can become a more effective servant leader.
Because you cannot lead people into places you are unwilling to grow into yourself.
