We are deeply saddened to report that 2-year-old Iqra whose story we shared a couple of weeks ago passed away on 10 January in Doolow, .

She spent much of the last 4 months in and out of the hospital suffering from the initial debilitating effects of severe malnutrition. Despite the valiant efforts of the entire medical team at the Trocaire Referral Hospital in Doolow, her latest relapse was just too much.

Iqra's death leaves us yet more determined to help and support the many displaced and vulnerable children suffering today in Somalia.

Iqra is just one of the thousands of children who die needlessly each year in Somalia from malnutrition-related causes. Their resolve, spirit, and legacy must live on.
