A lot of people are seeing our post about the 38 Aussies and thinking:
"I wish I could help, but I've never fostered before."

Good news... most of our fosters hadn't either. ❤️

When you foster with NTASR:
🐾 We cover veterinary expenses
🐾 We provide supplies when needed
🐾 We handle medical care
🐾 You have access to our foster team for support
🐾 We help every step of the way

Your job is simply to provide a safe place for a dog to land.

Worried about getting the "wrong" dog?
We match dogs to foster homes. Looking for a smaller dog? Lower energy? Puppies? A dog that gets along with your current pets? We work hard to find a good fit. (To the best of our knowledge)

A few things to know:
• You must be local to DFW Area
• Our fosters transport to appointments when needed
• We ask fosters to stay committed until the dog is adopted (unless you're applying as a short term vacation foster)

Right now we're trying to make room for 38 dogs coming from a cruelty case.

FOSTER SECURED FOR LOGAN!!!

Still no foster for Logan. 💔
(and still needing fosters for the 38 coming - we have about 3 so far)

The good news? She's finally settling in. She's eating well, taking good naps, doing all the normal dog things, and soaking up every bit of love she can get.
And she is SO sweet.

This mama is going to have puppies any day now, and we'd love to get her into a foster home before they arrive.

We're looking for a foster within about 1.5 hours of DFW so our team can support you every step of the way. Supplies? We've got them. Questions? We're here. Vet visits? We've got that covered too.

Logan has spent the last six months surviving on the streets.

Let's give her puppies a softer start. ❤️

🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTERS NEEDED 🚨

We just got a call and we're still processing.
Thirty-eight Aussies. 3-8. 38. A cruelty case out of East Texas.

The Animal Control Officer started describing the conditions these dogs have been living in and our hearts just sank.

We've now seen photos.

The walls are an ombre of brown, gradually getting darker the further down you go. The ceiling in one of the bedrooms, coated in a thick layer of dust and dander. There are kennels stacked along the wall, with clothes and trash on top of the crates.
Upon entry of the home, the colonial style chair rail is coated in brown. F***l matter, dander, and trash are in a pile, the white 1x1 tile underneath, barely visible. . .

Neglect. Dogs that are underweight. Dogs with terrible teeth. No teeth. Fleas. Ticks. Poor skin conditions. Dogs that have gone without the care they desperately needed for far too long.

Ages range from 15 months to seniors. Most are estimated to be around 30 pounds.

And now they're sitting in a shelter that simply does not have the resources to care for this many dogs for the amount of time they're going to need.

We have until FRIDAY. Four days.

And before anyone asks why we're saying yes when we already have so many dogs in rescue... because what are we supposed to do? Say no? Walk away? Pretend we didn't get the call? If we don't step up, these dogs may not get another chance.
So we are, asking. Begging. We need fosters.

We need people with spare bedrooms, spare bathrooms, guest rooms, offices, shops, literally anywhere a dog can safely decompress and begin learning that people can be kind.

These dogs are going to need veterinary care. They're going to need groceries. They're going to need patience. They're going to need time. Most of all, they're going to need somewhere to go.

NTASR will provide support. We'll provide vetting. Supplies. We will have one giant group chat of support for you. We'll help every step of the way.

And if you can't foster, please share this everywhere. Share it to your page. Share it to local groups. Share it with your friends who love Aussies. Share it with people who have a spare room and a big heart. Share this with other rescues.

We have until Friday to find places for 38 dogs to land.

🚨 LOGAN UPDATE 🚨
It’s Monday... and we still don’t have a foster for Logan. 💔
After visiting her at the vet today, one thing became very clear:
This girl is about to have puppies. Like... any moment now.
Logan has been boarding at our vet clinic while we searched for a whelping foster, but that’s not the place for a mama to welcome her babies. Tonight, she’s heading to our president’s home as a temporary emergency solution.
Temporary.
What Logan really needs is a foster home in DFW.
If you’ve ever considered fostering a mom and puppies, this is your chance to directly change the course of an entire family.

🚨 SNORTTIMER UPDATE 🚨

We have lost containment.
SnortTimer no longer fits in a medium kennel.
Repeat.
SNORTTIMER NO LONGER FITS IN A MEDIUM KENNEL.

The tiny snorting potato formerly known as Kevin Bacon has continued his transformation into a full-sized ham.

He still snorts.
He still loves mud.
He still believes personal space is a myth.
But he is no longer the little guy we rescued.

🚨 WHELPING FOSTER NEEDED BY MONDAY 🚨

Meet Logan. 💔

For the past six months, this sweet girl has been surviving on the streets around Dallas and Farmers Branch. Kind people have been feeding her and looking out for her, but no dog should have to spend half a year homeless... and then she became pregnant.

Someone recently brought Logan to Dallas Animal Services hoping she could finally get help. Instead, they were told the shelter wasn't taking pregnant dogs, and Logan was released back onto the streets. 😤

Today, she finally made it to safety.
The problem? Logan is VERY pregnant and could give birth at anytime.

We urgently need a whelping foster in the DFW area who can give Logan a safe, quiet place to bring her puppies into the world. Our team will provide support, supplies, guidance, and veterinary care, but we need a home for this mama before her puppies arrive.

Mimic update 🥁🥁🥁
The verdict is in...

Broken femur. And it healed. 😳

After getting sedated X rays today, the vet believes her injury was likely caused by a high impact trauma, potentially being hit by a large vehicle.

The good news? The fracture has healed.
The not so good news? It healed in a way that may be affecting her comfort and mobility.

So now we move to the next step: an orthopedic consult.

Our orthopedic team will review her images and help us determine the best path forward.

For now, we're relieved to finally have some answers. This sweet girl has clearly been through a lot in her short life, and somehow she's still nothing but wiggles, and smiles.

Morning Mimic update 🤍

We got this sweet girl into the vet this morning and it does appear that her femur was broken at some point and healed incorrectly (like its a MESS).
Poor baby has likely been walking around uncomfortable for a while.

She’s spending the day there so they can sedate her and get good X rays to fully assess everything and figure out what comes next. Despite everything, she has been incredibly sweet and wiggly through it all. Just a baby trying her best.

We’ll update more once we have imaging and a treatment plan. Thank you guys so much for rallying around this girl already.
