Meet the Tieben family — Heath, Sheri, Jacob, Elinor, Hannah, and Libi — from Kansas! Over the last few years, God’s command to go and spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all the nations became clear to them and they have committed to join us full-time in Guinea starting in 2027 after a period of language learning!

In 2024, they met Hope Ignited at the Global Missions Health Conference. God began confirming the direction He was already stirring in their hearts. After a vision trip to Guinea, their hearts were forever changed and God made it clear — that this is where He is calling them.

Join us in praying for them as they begin fundraising and preparations to move their entire family to Guinea. Praise God for the ways He is moving and bringing more workers to the field!

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Many of the Guinean families we serve have spent years going from clinic to clinic, spending all their money on exams and treatments, only to find that their children continue to suffer from the same problems. While we still have a long way to go in providing all that is needed, Hope Ignited’s Sacré Coeur Centre Médico-Chirurgical Pédiatrique is starting to fill this void for families with children suffering from chronic illnesses.

Dr. Barry has been with us at Hope Ignited’s Sacré Coeur Centre Médico-Chirurgical Pédiatrique from the very beginning. He has always shown a particular interest in children suffering from sickle cell anemia, an inherited blood order that can cause significant morbidity and even mortality. Through your support, he was able to participate in an intensive two week training in Dakar, Senegal, organized by the University of France – Senegal in collaboration with the University of Paris – Cite. Dr. Barry passed his training with honors and was invited to join an international team for regular online meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment guidelines. We hope this is only the beginning of an international collaboration with specialists in sickle cell disease all over West Africa. Congratulations Dr. Barry!
