The Brazoria County Alzheimer's Awareness Project is sponsored by the Brazoria County Health Department and the Brazoria County Gathering Place Interfaith Ministries, a free respite provider in southern Brazoria County. BCAAP sponsors county-wide memory screenings in partnership with the Brazoria County Library System, and partners with area healthcare organizations, businesses, social service and

government agencies and interested individuals to create events that heighten awareness in our communities.

IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS: Join us Friday, June 12, 2026 for our annual Caregiver Conference. The event will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin from 11 am to 2 pm. A light lunch and adult daycare will be provided. Dr. Ali Asghar-Ali from Baylor College of Medicine will be our keynote speaker. Register by June 5 by calling 979-308-4525 (Monday – Thursday, 10 am to 3 pm) or after hours you may call 979-849-5051. Don’t miss out!!

NEXT SATURDAY, MARCH 28 - Our 11th Brain Fair and Benefit is scheduled for Saturday, March 28th at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds in Angleton, 9 am to 12 pm. This year's event will feature dozens of healthcare exhibitors, hands-on demonstrations, and extended opportunities to visit with neurologists Dr. Forbes Barnwell and Dr. Blair Krell, along with pharmacist Ann Luu. Guests can also enjoy Zumba, Tai Chi and Self Defense sessions. A highlight this year is Care Access, offering five free health screenings at no cost: A1c; Lp(a) cholesterol; lipid panel; C-reactive protein; eGFR kidney function. Fairgoers ages 55 to 75 may also receive a pTau screening for Alzheimer's risk. We received a proclamation from Commissioner’s Court proclaiming November 2025 as “Alzheimer’s Awareness Month” in Brazoria County, Texas. Thanks to Judge Matt Sebesta, all the Commissioners, the Brazoria County Library System, Dr. Christina Parker (our new Executive Director), and all the residents of Brazoria County for supporting the Alzheimer’s Awareness project. Our annual FREE memory screenings in five county libraries will be November 17-22. We have programs to prevent and/or reverse the symptoms of dementia. Early detection is KEY!
