With a new truck comes a lot of training. Last evening, Angelica 1 with a crew of 5 pulled down to the creek and spent a few hours going over the pump controls and drafting.

Our new engine (Angelica 1), a 2026 E-ONE Spartan, was delivered on Friday. We have begun the process of putting new hose, equipment, and radios on/in the truck. Training will start tomorrow evening and we hope to have the truck in service within the next week. A huge thank you to the Village and Town of Angelica for working together to make this $769,000 purchase happen. Also to the sales rep Todd Smith at Fire Line Equipment for helping us with a design that best fits our needs and guidance throughout the process.

Our second piece of apparatus (Angelica 601) is a 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD. We had put out in this year’s fund drive letter the need for a multi-use vehicle, especially getting firefighters to state training classes. We thought it would take a couple of years to save the amount of money needed for the purchase of the truck, lettering, emergency lighting, siren, and radio. All I can say is the generosity of those that responded to our fund drive letter this year has has been amazing! We were also blessed by an anonymous group that offered to purchase the pickup truck. This combined with the donations received and donations continuing to come in, we were able to purchase the truck, have it up-fitted, and lettered ($68,000). The truck was put into service about two weeks ago and has already been used for transportation of our members to the two month long interior firefighting class as well as response to emergency calls. An open house and dedication ceremony will be announced very soon, we are shooting for mid-October.

We are sad to announce the passing last night of firefighter and past President Charlie Stark. Charlie was a 73 year member of the Angelica Hose Company and served as President from 1977 to 1983. Though Charlie was an exempt member in his later years, he was still actively engaged in the department, attending work nights, meetings, and fundraisers. We surely will miss you Charlie!

Arrangements are through Brown and Powers funeral home in Angelica. Calling hours are this Friday the 25th from 3pm to 7pm and the funeral will be held on Saturday the 26th at 11am.
