National Police Week 2026 💙

This week, we honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities and stand with the families, friends, and colleagues who carry their legacy forward.

National Police Week traces back to 1962, when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. Each year, the week that includes May 15 is set aside to remember, reflect, and show our gratitude.

We remember the fallen. We support the survivors. We thank those who continue to serve.

The 2026 Citizen Police Academy starts July 10! Applications for interested participants are available at https://andoverks.gov/806/Citizens-Police-Academy or at the Police Department. Applications are due by June 15. Don't wait! Slots will fill up fast!

The Police Department will host its Fourth Annual Citizens' Police Academy, with classes held weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each night, from July 9 to September 17. The eleven-week program will provide attendees with information on various aspects of law enforcement, foster positive relationships between the police and community through education, and cultivate a growing group of responsible, well-informed citizens who have the potential to shape public opinions about law enforcement.

We join Andover KS Police Department in welcoming Sgt. Elsen and his new partner K-9 Officer Kilo home. Your support to the Andover Police & Fire Foundation K-9 campaign made it possible for the purchase and training of K-9 Officer Kilo and training for Kilo and Sgt. Elsen as a team. Thank you for your continued support to our mission and standing ready to help support Special Projects for the Andover Fire-Rescue and Andover Police Departments. We can’t wait to meet K-9 Officer Kilo!

WOW! What an incredible evening we had at the 4th Annual Andover Police & Fire Foundation Gala. It’s been so much fun seeing all the beautiful posts of favorite memories of the night. We will share award winners and awesome pictures soon. Thank you to all the sponsors and guests who showed up and honored over 100 First Responders and their guests with us. Definitely a night to be remembered!
