Hello Anacortes! The Scouts of Troop 4081 are excited to kick off our annual curb painting fundraiser once again! For the past two years, we’ve been bringing address number painting to Skyline, and now we’re eager to expand our efforts to other lovely Anacortes neighborhoods. If you’re interested in having your home’s address numbers painted, please get in touch with us. We kindly ask for at least 5 homes in a neighborhood to commit before we schedule a date, so be sure to chat with your neighbors! Your support enables our young scouts to remain active and facilitates their Scouting adventures.

Our newest Eagle Scout Paul is famous and we at Troop 4081 are so proud of him! Paul is featured in this Anacortes Today post where he was interviewed at the Causland Park Veterans Day Ceremony. Paul earned his Eagle rank at the age of 12, which is an amazing achievement that requires focus, dedication and determination. He is an exceptional scout and leader in our Troop. Great job Paul!

Among Scouts volunteering in a Veterans Day color guard at Causland Park today was Paul Matzko. Paul (8th grade), earned his Eagle scout rank in July, one month before he turned 13. It was a goal he set for himself when he became a Boy Scout after earning his Arrow of Light and completing 5th grade.

At a Court of Honor ceremony last month, Paul received his Bronze and Gold Eagle Palms, reflecting 10 of the 12 merit badges he has earned beyond the required 21. He has four more merit badges in the works and has set a new goal for himself of earning every merit badge available before he turns 18.

For his Eagle project, he built two little lending libraries at Fidalgo Elementary, solicited books from the teachers/classrooms, donated dozens of books from his own personal collection, and went to every classroom to talk to the students about scouting in general as well as his new little lending libraries.

Congratulations, Paul, on your Eagle rank and thank you for your generous contributions to community.

This summer the Scouts in Troop 4081 will be doing their annual curb painting fundraiser. We will be in Skyline painting the last week of July. If you are in the Skyline neighborhood please reach out (see flyer) to put your name on our client list. If you are in another neighborhood in Anacortes, please also reach out. If we have enough interest in other neighborhoods we would like to have your business as well. We would prefer at least 5 customers in a neighborhood - so go get your neighbors to sign up as well! Donations from this fundraiser will go directly to supporting Anacortes BSA Troop 4081. Thank you for your support.

Our local VFW (and sponsor!) works hard to keep this park looking respectful and peaceful for the community. Scouts like to join the ongoing effort on the first Saturday of every month.

ANACORTES — Members of Young-McCool Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12220 of Anacortes and Scout Troop 4081 turned out May 4 to beautify Causland Memorial Park.

The troop found time over the last month to celebrate with a fun gift exchange (outdoor related items, of course!), indoor climbing over at Endurance climbing gym, board game night (with pizza and dessert bar!) and an evening spent bowling. Happy New Years from Troop 4081!
