We're hiring! Modoc Harvest is looking for a Food Hub Manager to handle the day-to-day operations of our food hub.

This is a hands-on job with a little bit of everything. The Food Hub Manager will work directly with local producers and customers, manage the online ordering platform, receive and pack products, make weekly deliveries to pickup locations, handle customer and producer communication, and keep the food hub organized and running smoothly. They’ll also help with the bigger-picture work like recruiting and supporting producers, leading our Producer Steering Committee, working with institutional buyers, and helping improve and grow the food hub over time.

The Food Hub Manager will be trained and work under the supervision of the Modoc Harvest Program Coordinator. We’re looking for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, good at communicating with lots of different people, and willing to learn.

We’re holding an Apple Pie Contest as part of the Heritage Fruit Festival, and anyone is welcome to enter. Sandy Stevenson was our first place winner in 2025, and we had so much fun we had to bring it back this year!

A few important details: Pies need to be submitted by 5:20pm at the latest, and each person can enter up to two pies. Judging will happen right after entries close, and we’ll announce the winner at 6:00pm.

We're going out with a bang!!! The final First Friday of the year - don't make any other plans!

Modoc Harvest is currently working through an institutional sales pilot program, and we’ve been learning a lot about what local buyers need, how much they need, and how we can make local purchasing work better for both our producers and customers.

One thing is already clear: we need more producers.

The Food Hub is always open to small producers with seasonal products and specialty items. At the same time, we are especially looking for people who may be interested in growing larger quantities of products that local buyers are already asking for.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Modoc Harvest staff can help interested producers with crop planning, setup, paperwork, access to tools or resources, and other steps that may make it easier to get started.

If you grow food in Modoc County and are curious about selling locally, scaling up, or planting with local demand in mind, please reach out.

The Food Hub exists to help connect local producers with local buyers, and there is room to grow.

Sometimes local food work looks like farmers markets and produce boxes. Sometimes it looks like seeds being shared between neighbors, kids learning where food comes from, preserving heritage orchards, or helping people use the food items they have on-hand.
