Please read and act - for Tiny homes on wheels

The time has come, the April 22 hearing on the proposal to codify relocatable tiny homes is coming up very soon, your help in putting this on your local voting official's radar can make a real difference.
We're asking you to take a simple but powerful step: send an email to your local building official. This helps ensure the issue is on their radar before the vote and shows strong public support for relocatable tiny homes ahead of the hearing.
Why this matters: Officials need to hear directly from their community before making decisions. A short, thoughtful email can influence how they view the proposal. Strong local engagement demonstrates widespread support for safe, accessible, relocatable housing.
How to find your local official: Identify your city or county: search
"[your city/county] building department". Go to your city/county website and look for the 'building department'. Sometimes this is called "Planning and Development', other times, "Planning and Zoning", sometimes just 'Permitting'. (If you have the option for 'building' or 'zoning', choose 'building') Look for the “Contact” on the website. Most will list a general email address or you can find the 'chief building official,' 'building official', or 'director'. Any of these emails will work since departments generally work to get inquiries to the right desk. Copy and personalize the draft letter I’ve prepared for you (below). Send the email. Thank you for sticking up for housing solutions that work for people and making sure your local official knows you care!
With (so much) gratitude,~Macy

Subject Line: Constituent Support for ICC RB42 (April Hearing)
April [XX], 2026 Dear [Building Official’s Name], I’m a resident of [City/County/State], and I’m writing to share my support for ICC proposal RB42, which will be heard at the upcoming ICC Public Comment Hearing in Hartford, CT.
RB42 is intended to create clearer, more consistent guidelines in the residential code for relocatable tiny homes. My understanding is that it focuses on improving clarity and risk reduction, not mandating adoption at the local level.
[Optional personal sentence — choose one]● Affordable housing options are important to me and my family because...● I believe tiny homes can be part of thoughtful housing solutions in communities like ours.● Housing flexibility matters, especially for seniors/young families/working people because…● Clearer code language helps reduce confusion.
As someone who lives in your jurisdiction, I value the role building officials play in protecting public safety while navigating evolving housing needs. I respectfully ask that you consider supporting RB42 and, if you will be attending the hearing, speaking in favor of it.
Thank you for your time and for your service to our community. Sincerely, [Name] [City/County, State]
