💚What if “I’m fine” isn’t the whole story? 🧡
🩷Kids don’t always have the words to say, “I’m struggling.”
💜Sometimes, they show us.
💙A change in mood.
💛Pulling away.
🩵Losing interest.
❤️Feeling hopeless.
September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and at Five Acres, we’re using our Wear Your Heart initiative to make space for the conversations that can be hard to start but can matter so much.
Start small:
💕 Ask how they’re really doing.
💕 Listen without judgment.
💕 Take changes seriously.
💕 Let them know they don’t have to face hard things alone.
You don’t need perfect words.
You just need to start the conversation.
Follow along this month for more su***de prevention and children’s mental health resources from Five Acres. Want to learn more? Reach out through the link in our bio.
💚Wear Your Heart. Start the conversation. 🧡

🧡What if your child is hurting… but isn’t telling you? 💚
Bullying doesn’t always come with the words, “I’m being bullied.”
Sometimes it looks like:
💭Not wanting to go to school
💭Big changes in mood
💭Headaches or stomachaches
💭Pulling away from friends
💭Losing interest in things they love
💕If something feels different, pay attention.
And if your child opens up:
🌟Listen. Believe them. Don’t minimize it.
🌟Let them know: “I’m glad you told me. We’ll figure this out together.”
🌟If bullying is affecting their safety or well-being, partner with the school and advocate for your child.
🩷Believe them. Support them. Advocate for them.
Save this for later. Share it with a parent who may need it.

💚After a full day of learning, listening, socializing, and managing big feelings, your child may need a little less questioning and a little more connection.
🧡Instead of “How was school?” try:
✨ “I’m happy to see you.”
✨ “Want a snack or some quiet time?”
✨ “Tell me about your day when you’re ready.”
🩷Connection first. Conversation second.
💕What does your child need most after school a snack, a break, a hug, or some quiet time? Tell us below. 💚🧡

🧡💚Books can take us places. 📚
At our latest Children’s Book Club, the kids read: Growing Food in the Garden, made smoothies, tried new fruits, and learned about healthy eating. Then took their learning to the South Pasadena Farmers’ Market, where the kids got to explore, taste, and have a little fun along the way. 🍓🥕 Our Five Acres Children's Guild Volunteers love creating moments where learning feels like an adventure.

🧡Your child doesn’t need a lecture when they’re overwhelmed. They need you. 💚
When big feelings take over, a child’s brain isn’t ready for problem-solving. First, they need to feel safe and connected.
Try grounding together:
🌿 Take three slow breaths.
👀 Name five things you can see.
🦶 Notice your feet firmly on the ground.
🤝 Stay close and help them settle before talking through what happened.
Children learn emotional regulation by experiencing it with us first. Over time, those small moments of connection help build the skills they need to manage stress, big emotions and challenges on their own.
💕Connection first.
💕Regulation second.
💕Problem-solving third.
There’s no perfect technique. The best grounding activity is the one that helps your child feel safe enough to come back to themselves.
