Day 1 at Millstone 4-H Camp is officially in the books, and we have a record-breaking 16 Stanly County youth joining our 4-H Agent for one of the best weeks of the summer! 🪵 🔥
Our campers got checked in, settled into their cabins and already made themselves right at home. We wrapped up the perfect first evening around the campfire, tossing our first-day worries into the fire (via our worry sticks) and replacing them with s’mores! 🍫
We are so proud of this awesome group and can’t wait for a fun-filled week ahead! Stay tuned for more updates! ☀️🌲

🍀 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY! 🍀
We are still on cloud 9 from hosting the 2026 South Central 4-H District Activity Day! Our North Carolina Cooperative Extension - Stanly County office only gets the honor of pulling off this massive event once every 19 years, and we couldn't be more proud of how it turned out.
The doors at South Stanly Middle School opened to welcome a staggering 530 people from across our 19-county district—including 4-H youth, their supportive families, volunteers, and dedicated N.C. Cooperative Extension staff.
District Activity Day is Step 2 of 3 in the competitive NC 4-H presentation and 4-H entertains program. After shining at the county level (Step 1), these amazing youth advanced to our district competition. The stakes were high, as all Gold and Silver medal winners earned a coveted ticket to the state finals in Raleigh this July!
This beautiful day of community, leadership, and talent truly took a village. We want to send out a few huge, heartfelt thank yous:
🙌 To the World's Best Volunteers: You are the heartbeat of 4-H. Thank you for your time, energy, and endless smiles!
🏫 To Stanly County Schools & South Stanly Middle School Staff: Thank you to Ms. Kelly Hill and the her staff for opening your doors and being such accommodating hosts.
🚜 To Stanly County Farm Bureau: A huge shoutout for helping cover the cost of lunch for over 50 of our hard-working Stanly County volunteers!
Last, but certainly not least, we want to give a special, booming round of applause to our seven Stanly County 4-H’ers. Standing in front of judges to deliver a 5-to-12-minute presentation takes serious courage! These youth spent countless hours researching, crafting, and practicing to get their presentations just right.
Their hard work paid off in a big way—EVERY SINGLE ONE of our local youth walked away with a medal, and FIVE are moving on to the State Competition in July! 🥳🎉
Help us congratulate our local stars (with a few special shoutouts):
🥉 Edyn Stroupe (Rocky River Riders 4-H Club) - Bronze Medalist!
🥉 Hadley Denton (Rocky River Riders 4-H Club) - Bronze Medalist!
🥈 Ava Nelson (Rocky River Riders 4-H Club) - Silver Medalist & State Qualifier!
🥇 Isabel Cox (Rocky River Riders 4-H Club) - Gold Medalist & State Qualifier!
🥇 Pressley Stroupe (Rocky River Riders 4-H Club) - Gold Medalist & State Qualifier!
🥇 Ellianna LaMotte (Rocky River Riders 4-H Club) - Gold Medalist & State Qualifier!
🥇 Ty Crayton (Sunny Oaks Farm 4-H Club) - Gold Medalist & State Qualifier!
Congratulations to all of our participants, winners, and state-bound competitors! Stanly County 4-H is shining bright! 🌟

Our Cloverbuds had a fantastic time during Simple Snacks! 🍎🥕🍇 Participants learned about MyPlate and the different food groups while creating a variety of healthy and delicious snacks. Through hands-on activities, they explored how to make nutritious choices and discovered new foods to enjoy. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and eagerness to learn were amazing to see! We loved having this wonderful group and are so proud of all they accomplished. 💚🍀
