Stanly 4-H youth! You are invited!

🐓Montgomery County 4-H Annual Chicken Show on September 4th at 5:00 PM!
🐔Youth ages 5–18 are welcome to participate. If you know a young person who would like to try showing chickens but does not have a bird, we are happy to help make arrangements for them to borrow a bird and give chicken showing a try!
🐥The show will include:
-Showmanship
-Breed Classes (if enough of the same breed are entered)
-Rooster Class
-Parent Class
-Chicken Costume Contest! 🐔
🍀Registration begins at 4:00 PM, and NCDA will be on-site to bleed birds before the show.

🥳Congratulations to Stanly 4-H alum, Sarah Van Horn, for being awarded the L.R. Harrill Scholarship! 4-H Agent, Mandy Smith-Thompson, was thrilled to present this award renewal in recognition of Sarah’s hard work and 4-H accomplishments.

Thanks to Stanly Soil & Water for gifting us several frog dissection kits! At their last meeting, Stanly General Interest 4-H Club used them to learn about frog anatomy, ID and how frogs are indicators of environmental pollution. 4-H’ers learned so much! Thank you, Stanly Soil & Water!

🐸🔬 4-H + FROG DISSECTIONS = SO MUCH FUN!

Our 4-H members have been exploring all kinds of things related to our Environment theme this year, and our August meeting was definitely one to remember!

This month, we got hands-on and learned about frogs through a frog dissection! Our members got to see firsthand what makes a frog work and learn more about the role animals play in our environment.

There were definitely some “ewww!” moments 😂, but there was also a LOT of curiosity, questions, and excitement!

We love giving our 4-H'ers opportunities to learn by doing, ask questions, and experience things they might not get to experience anywhere else.

And yes... frog dissection was a hit! 🐸💚

Join us next month as we take a field trip and learn about other aspects of environment.
