Transform Alameda practices unity, empathy, and respect while we fight for abolition instead of reform. We envision an Alameda that divests from policing in order to invest in our community, addressing harm at its roots. We imagine a future Alameda that values community-based public safety. We aim to continuously center those most harmed by systemically racist systems, our Black and Indigenous mem

bers and neighbors. We will meet people where they are while we acknowledge the need for continual growth.

Important update about Mario’s case:

This evening as we get ready to support Mario’s family for his 3rd Angelversary DA Pamela Price announced that the three officers who killed him will be charged with felony involuntary manslaughter. Today’s announcement brings hope to Mario’s family for the first time since he was murdered. Hope for the justice system to hold these officers accountable for their actions and their misconduct. We have stood with Edith, Jerry, and Efraín since day one and we will continue to do so. This will be a difficult journey, and we ask our community to join us in supporting them throughout this coming legal process. Justice for Mario Gonzalez was a demand not just a slogan and we hope that his family will finally get the justice they have been waiting for. Please join us tomorrow, Friday April 19th for a celebration of Mario and to stand with his family during this important time.

Please join us in helping to honor Mario on his third Angelversary. Mario was murdered by Alameda police on April 19th 2021. As a community we hope that we can continue to show up for his family and support them in keeping his memory alive. We hope someday to have a permanent memorial in this space and to have the park renamed for him to make sure everyone knows what happened here, please keep an eye out for a petition for that in the future. For now, please show up for this special event, bring flowers, art, an offering for the altar and love for his family.

Please share far and wide and apply if you’re eligible. This is a pilot program and we hope that it’s adopted permanently in the future. The Transform community worked incredibly hard to help get this through council and we believe it will have a positive impact in our city.

Please join us on Wednesday to honor Mario and his family. It will be two years since 3 APD officers and an off duty parking attendant murdered him for being in a park. We’re asking our community members to come help hold space for those that loved and knew him. Please feel free to bring flowers or battery operated candles. This event is for the healing of Mario’s family and to keep his memory alive. But we would like to see our community come support this family as you all have done in the past. If you would like to help in any way, with set up, clean up, or the continued maintaining of the altar please reach out to us here or email us, link in bio.

The survey results are in! We are really encouraged by the deep, thoughtful community conversation that the Alameda Community Budget survey initiated. Thank you for being a part of it!

We hope you’ll take some time to explore what we learned from the survey and see the ways in which the Alameda Community Budget can be useful to our community. Take a look, share this with your friends and neighbors, and see what participatory budgeting looks like here in Alameda.

The City staff and Council are embarking on a strategic planning process as they build the next two-year City budget. Later this month, a strategic planning meeting will be held by the City. The purpose of this meeting is to clearly define the City of Alameda's priorities. We hope this report can help you express your priorities to the City. Together we can share our values and impact how public money should be spent!

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 Help support Mario Gonzalez's brother Efrain as he recovers from emergency surgery next week. We're sending him love and wishes for good health. We also hope to ease Edith’s responsibilities as she cares for her son by helping them with meals and essentials. Supporting Efrain is a way to provide tangible, long-term support to survivors of state violence perpetrated right here in Alameda. Community care is what Edith and Efrain need from us right now, we hope you’ll join us in this effort.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in supporting Edith, Efrain, and Little Mario today. Especially the family members of other victims of police violence Angelo Quinto and Erik Salgado. It was short notice but Edith asked us to remind Alameda that Mario still needs people fighting for him, especially now that the case is being re-investigated. If you drove by and honked we thank you too. We hope to continue to be able to show them that Alameda is here for them and we’ll keep fighting with them.
