The Rotary Club of Adrian was organized on March 24, 1921 at a banquet held at Gussenbauer's Tea Room, located in the 100 block of South Main Street, with 24 charter members and visiting Rotarians from Toledo, Jackson, and Hillsdale. The original officers were: T.C. Kennedy, Clarke E. Baldwin, A.V. Riddle, James H. Howell, and Earl G. Little could these and the original 24 Rotarians have imagined the major impact that Rotary International would have on our community over the next 75 years!

The Adrian Noon Rotary Club has been a loyal supporter of Michner Elementary School's Fluency Friends program for the last 14 consecutive years! Here are a few photos from last week's year-end cebration of volunteers and their students. Pictured in a separate photo are Michner E;ementary Principal Anne Lacasse and Reading Specialist, Kathy Ziegler. Mary Murray, Noon Club member and chair of this incredibly successful event is also shown in a separate photo serving students the snacks she arranges each year to make sure all of the kids have a most memorable experience. Incidentally, the club purchases books every year so that students can take 5 books with them to read over the summer break.

It is with immense sadness that we let you know of the passing of former Mayor and veteran Adrian Noon Rotarian, Greg DuMars, this past week.

Greg was appointed to the Adrian City Commission in 2005 to replace former commissioner and Mayor Eric Sullivan and then Greg himself was elected Adrian's Mayor six years later in 2011!

Greg joined the Adrian Noon Rotary Club in December of 1983 and was sponsored by Past District Governor, Bill Chase. Incidentally, Greg attended our meeting just one week ago! He and Debbie were very involved in club activities and social events.

Greg will be missed greatly yet his legacy will live on. We pray that Debbie, their children and other family members receive comfort beyond all understanding through their strong faith during this most difficult time.

One final note,, the club's board of directors at last Tuesday's meeting honored Greg by naming one of the club's 3 scholarship funds - the Greg DuMars 4-Way Test Scholarship!
