Blue Kindness

Blue Kindness Community Initiative Our goal is to build trust, create harmony, establish unity, and simply make someone's day a little better.

Blue Kindness is a nonprofit organization that supports Adel Police officers' ability to perform scattered acts of kindness in the community they serve. Someone in the line ahead of you pays for your coffee, your groceries, or your drive-thru order. They've "paid it forward," and you find yourself smiling all day! Perhaps it inspires you to pay it forward for someone else - and your smile deepens

knowing you made someone's day. Police officers are known to often perform these scattered acts of kindness out of their own pockets. Kindness is contagious, and their acts build trust and encourage unity, raising the spirits of the giver and receiver and bringing the police and the community closer together. After all, together we ARE the community.

Alex comes into the GATE room ready to WORK. He was pivotal in helping Mr. Freidhof solve a problem for the wrestling team, 3D printing sign clips over five different iterative designs. Alex has top-notch work ethic and a great attitude. Thanks, Alex!

January's Student Citizen of the Month is William Schwarte. William was nominated by his teachers who had this to say about William:
We feel that we have seen him be intentionally kind to students and help everyone to be included. For example, there was one day in literacy when we were having a discussion about the book we were reading. He was noticing the students who were sitting there struggling with how to talk or add their ideas. He would purposefully become the leader of the group and ask specific students to share their ideas. He did this with kindness and not in a bossy manner. Overall, when he notices that a student needs a partner and is left out, when someone needs to be included in the discussion or needs to be included in a group, etc. he includes them. He goes out of his way to make the right choice and be a good human!
Congratulations to William! He received a challenge coin and a free Domino's pizza thanks to Blue Kindness!

Several people have asked about the Challenge Coins Blue Kindness & the APD present to the HS and MS ‘Student Citizens of the Month’. They are a two-sided coin representing the values exhibited by those students who are recognized each month. It comes in a case as shown here. It will be a reminder of valued behavior and a positive interaction with a member of the Adel Police Dept. I can tell you the officers love participating in this program! The teachers love it too!

The Adel Police Department, in partnership with Blue Kindness, was honored today to donate $1,000 worth of items to Adel’s Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Executive Director, Brandie Wilson and Vice President, Trish Radke received the goods, which were even more needed than usual due to delayed goverment SNAP funding. It was uplifting to see these two organizations work together to serve our community! Trish and Brandie work very hard to help those they support. The APD is likewise engaged in their mission to Serve & Protect. Chief Wade Book and these officers delivered the items purchased at Adel’s Fareway with funding through Blue Kindness. We encourage all citizens to please donate appropriate items to the pantry to the extent they can.
Thank you!!

Thank you for being a leader!
